Purchased a Skoolie/Toy Hauler

Hello,
I have been interested in skoolies for as long as I could remember, but specifically I wanted one to convert into a toy hauler for my 4x4's. Thankfully one just came up for sale in my area(next door neighbor) that was in my budget so I purchased it.


I am hoping to move it onto my property this weekend, it currently needs some new batteries, and a fuel line replacement in order to get it moving that I am aware of thus far.


It has a onboard generator, roof A/C, toilet, big cooler underneath one of the couches, a large garage(20-22ft) with ramp, was told the gearing in the axle was redone for highway speeds already.


It also is already registered as an RV in my province.



Looking forward to reviewing some builds/ideas for this skoolie.

This is all I have currently, however once I take possession of it I can get any more pics that you are looking for as well as video.


I must say I am a larger guy 5'11" over 300lbs and can lift a fair bit of weight and I am not sure who/how this ramp was built but it definitely is solid... I jumped on it as well as tried to lift it and it is heavy. Thankfully there is a winch setup to do all of the lifting for me.

It is required to be square since it doubles as a ramp to load vehicles into the back garage portion.


It seems to be well built but yes I am not 100% sure if it is completely weather proof during down pours. Hoping to go over it all once I get it to my property.

It might not really matter if it's not 100% watertight and leaks some, as the rear floor is slanted downward/back to the rear allowing water to drain out naturally?

Correct the rear floor is slanted downward so water would naturally run down but it was slanted to continue with the ramp and allow for taller vehicles to fit in the back.

Looks like 2 big airdams on the rear corners. Others have put squre doors that fit the rear profile. The corners of the ramp are rarely used.

sheet metal can definitely be added to help stream line that rear section however how it was done I believe allows the largest opening possible. which is ideal for myself since I will be putting lifted 4x4 trucks into the back.

Maybe a slightly lifted truck, unless you go for a roof raise.
How deep does the garage portion go inside?

It is the geo tracker in the front of this picture that is going to be housed in the bus first... I took measurements and it has about 2”

However it is eventually going to be used to haul around my mini crawler that I am building from 2 Suzuki LJ80s which are 10ft long 50” wide and very small as you can see.
Going to take the frame, driveline etc from the tintop and put the body from the open top onto it even though it is in rougher shape it, I prefer open tops with foldable windshields etc

It will have same size tires as the tracker(33”) if not a bit taller but will be built lower with trimming of the hood and fenders.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks as though the floor is not slanted, they built the floor up to the top of the wheel well level and just ramp down to regular floor level at the back. Definitely looking at a roof raise if you plan on those things inside this way.
How tall are the rigs? There is exactly 55" between the wheek wells. I assume there is ample storage under the floor in there? If not, and it were mine, I would have skinny loading tires for the rig that allowed between the well parking and avoid the roof raise.

Somewhat correct in the fact that it was built upto the wheel well level.. however I believe it does go lower than standard in the rear. I recall it being 88" from top to bottom at the very back but need to confirm.

However now that you mention it I kind of wish they didn't build it up higher since the headroom sucks in it.. So if I was to redo the interior that is something I would likely look into.

I think I do see a continued taper at the back, can't see from outside. Don't know if it tapers another 10 though. Critcal measurement to take twice right now is how tall your rigs are. Then you'll know if a roof raise is in the works.

Yep. That was my name on a Suzuki forum from probably 15 years ago and i keep it on all the forums since i suck at coming up with names. Ive built several samurais over the years, but with a family of 6, I've grown out of them for now. I hope to get back into it someday and an lj would make a great project. Here's my last zuk before i sold it.
