Thumbs up Serentiy Bus Project

Hey everyone! Can't tell you all how helpful this site has already been to me and I am just beginning the conversion process, so thank you all!!!

My wife, four kids, and I recently sold our home bought a school bus and plan to see North America for a year, once we have finished the conversion. Our 4 kids are home schooled and my wife teaches Chinese students English through a company called Vipkid. As for me, I am an insurance agent and plan on taking a year sabbatical... While on the road, I too, will be teaching via Vipkid. We couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to make memories together.

Thanks again to all of you that make this such a wonderful resource for newbies like myself, to the world of skoolies.

Smile Lizzard skin

We decided on Lizard Skin for our interior.. No sub floor no insulation. It looks amazing!!! Today I bought 24 gallons of their sound proofing underlay, and 24 gallons of their ceramic insulation overlay. We are lining the entire interior of the bus with this stuff. Can't wait... pics coming soon. Check it out. https://youtu.be/W6XG1InN_h8

24 gallons?

it would be nice if those videos actually tested the product and showed before and after results. How much is that Lizard Skin?

The Lizard Skin pro directed me to Jeggs because they had a deal running. I needed 12 2gallon jugs of sound dampener, 6 2gallon jugs of flat black ceramic thermal overcoat (for the floor), 6 2gallon jugs of flat white ceramic thermal overcoat (for walls and ceiling), and the special spray gun. The costs on sale was $3685.... but... Jeggs was doing no tax, free delivery, and I told the Jeggs rep I had a code (I found on Retail Me Not... listed as expired) for 10% off that I couldn't get to work on the online ordering screen. He stated he would speak to his manager. He came back and said "I can't make that code work for you its too old a code, but my manager authorized me to give you "race team prices" do to your difficulty and the size of your order." Total cost $3323.. delivered by the weekend guaranteed. I won't be using any other insulation type... no sub flooring.. literally building off of this stuff. I'll be painting the white a light blue (expert said this is perfectly fine). I'll be using a runner rug down the center Isle for comfort on feet.

Had issues with our old YouTube channel so we made a new one. Here is our latest video, not the one above. Thanks... sorry for the confusion.

They Claim an R-value of 16.

They also say: waterproof, anti-microbial, will seal all holes under 5/16th inch (larger needs seam sealer first), non-toxic, can maintain a 30 degree differential inside the bus, can be painted, sound deadener with thermal ceramic on top = the thickness of two stacked dimes. I did a ton of research. My friends panel van sounded like banging on a metal sign.... after both coats of Lizard skin when you struck the outside of van it sounded and felt like you hit a tank.
