The Life of the Vagabonds

Hello, all!

We are Jeff and Nicki and just bought our first school bus. It is a 1997 International 3800 accessible bus, and we think it has about 20 feet of usable space behind the driver--we bought it online and pick it up next week. We originally had plans for one of the longer buses, with 30+ feet of usable space because we plan to take three of our children (the ones still at home) around the country this fall, while we homeschool and then park it for Nicki to complete her graduate school. With the larger bus, we were going to have two sets of double bunks with a bathroom between that and the master full-size bed (room). We will want a composting toilet and the ability to boon dock.

We have a couple of questions and will look for the appropriate board to post them on. We have a wheelchair ramp in the master area and wonder if anyone has used these for a "toy hauler," as taking Jeff's motorcycle with us is important? Do you think we could loft the master bed above the storage/motorcycle area? Also, since we will only have room for one bunk now, has anyone else used triple bunks?

We plan to start on the bus in a week-and-a-half and be as done as possible by early September.

Thanks!

Really? Five people(five places to sleep)three places for home study, cooking space, toilet and motorcycle in 20ft? Where are you going to put clothes for five people, food for five people, dirty laundry for five people? Don't you ever get "MOM, he's TOUCHING me"?

I'm not trying to discourage, just asking important questions. As for all of your questions the answer is yes. All of that stuff has been done and is documented on this forum.
