The Rise of the Magic Boom Bus!

Howdy y'all! Our family has had the blessing to have had the Magic Boom Bus in our life for a little over a year.

The Magic Boom Bus is a 1987 Chevy B-60 Bluebird 6 Window short bus. She was converted by "The Old Man" whom did a ton of beautiful hand-worked wood inside. She has been a great platform for family camping and music festivals. We have decided to join the tiny house movement, and continue where the Old Man left off to nudge her into day to day use.

We're excited to hear from anyone with experience with our bus or motor. We're totally newbies! Advice is happily taken!

A big ol' Skoolie WELCOME! --- Looks like a great platform, but as EastCoast queried...what engine...and tranny? Appears to be in great shape for an '87.

Thanks guys!

She's a 366 cubic inch, 6 liter engine we believe. The odometer is stuck so whenever she rolls over another 100K, she rolls back to 100 (haha!) As for the tranny, I'm not sure. She has a manual transmission with and electric high/low gear ratio button. It's synchros are worn out in 3rd gear and so that is a mid-range upgrade on our horizon.

Please forgive me for not knowing as much about her as I feel like I should and for not using the right lingo. My husband and I, Memorial Day 2014, discovered that we both had a childhood dream of owning a converted school bus. 48 hours after we got home, I had found our bus, already converted and ready to go. We didn't even know Skoolies were a thing until she was sitting in our driveway!

Now that we are turning our attention to the tiny house idea, I felt it was time to connect with y'all and make some new friends and see what could be learned. There are so many beautiful busses here! I'm in heaven!
