Re: After Armageddon

Ya gotta love latin.
Though I may stand on Nietzsches side in saying:
Nietzsche argued that the "deus ex machina" created a false sense of consolation that ought not to be sought in phenomena and this denigration of the plot device has prevailed in critical opinion.
Friedrich Nietzsche criticised Euripides for making tragedy an optimistic genre via use of the device and was highly sceptical of the "Greek cheerfulness"
The suspension of disbelief, allowing the author to conclude the story with an unlikely, though perhaps more palatable, ending.

BUT- You have to look for an upside or you'll just slit your wrists. It's an interesting dichotomy I have within myself. It is controlled through the use of modern chemicals.

And - Now your talking Smitty, mine and a few others topics here.....FOIL HATS RULE

Can an atheist not also have a point of view? If one does not believe in God/higher power, then they can have no opinion? And are you suggesting that I take up drinking also, in addition to a double dose of prozac?

A rosy outlook is fine, even with a head tucked between the legs, buried in the sand. No wait, in the bunker. We are already, well into the demise of our own empire as we know it. Look around, it's happening from within. Are you one who belives that God and/or government will see you through. There is nothing that can be done, so do not do anything. I have people close to me who believe this way and it pisses me off. Like smitty said, if it actually comes to drastic times, I and most others would not accept someone with no skills, abilities and supplies into a self sustaining group.

"I would gladly do my part to assist my fellow citizens from my quarters below Wright Patterson or below Denver airport, depending on what part of the country I was in."

Are you one of the privledged?

"Do not worry. America's secret weapon to aid her citizens is helicopters. You don't see many being used in the movie but as always throughout literature and history,"

That's the problem. America is not self sufficent anymore. To many are looking for their handout from the government. Expecting someone to take care of them if a something bad happens. Have you noticed we are not helping our own very much? You pretty much have to live in another country to "get the good stuff" Or be a baby mak'in welfare recipient.

Wait, I sorry, Meds just kicked in. I'll help everyone As my fellow Rainbows say "Welcome home brother" I will take your idle posterior in with me and fill up your bus too.

Re: After Armageddon

Slowlane, I agree with most of what you say. If you have found your maker then I'm sure your more at peace with yourself than a lot of the Godless/faithless people.
When I say it's happening from within, I meant the changing of America as we ( an older generation) have known it. I think that most all the hostile countries realize that America can never be taken by force on our own shores. To many firearms in the hands of the public, let alone our armed forces. BUT infiltrate our interior and chip away our rights and freedoms as well as take over the economy/banking/land etc. and over time we don't notice the change until it's to late.
As far as preparedness goes, there are many passages in the bible that refer to being prepared. I won't go into those as I don't want this to be a theology discussion.
I Believe the best Idea here is - Prepare for the worst/Hope for the best.

P.S.
Smitty, we have not had a good debate on the forum for awhile. You can't be spending all your time on that damn bus. (whoa, I sounded just like my wife there) You gotta help keep the pot stirred

What makes you think there are going to be zombies? Are they going to magically appear? I don't understand. I must be missing something.

Re: After Armageddon

I will be more concerned with the lack of Twinkies then with the abundance of zombies.
