All closet democrats read this!

Tired of being running into republicans everywhere you go? Do Smitty's posts get on your nerves, but you're too chicken to do anything about it? Join the group!

Due to some concerns over what may happen to individuals ousted as "bleeding blue", all meetings and correspondence will be done in private. Simply send me a private message (click on my name, then on "Send Private Message") giving me your contact information. Just the basics, name, address, phone number, email address.

While I appreciate that you're trying to keep things somewhat private, the issue of politics has always been a touchy subject and we try and avoid it on this board. At the least do you think you could remove the personal attack from your post?

Just grow a spine and stand up for what you believe! No group required!

That's a funny thing about America... Gentlemen can agree to disagree, argue their point, and not feel the need for group therapy.

Smitty, here's your hug XXXooo

....Just wait, I can't- when the great plan comes together. Healthcare- national electronic funds card to access it, if you're caught eating at IHOP too many times you'll be denied coverage.

Enough to make you give up- Patrick Henry is tossing in his grave to be sure...

Still waiting for my baby panda slippers smitty you said 6 to 8 business days

Actually, one of the provisions is supposed to be that you can't be denied coverage for any reason. What they DO want to do is tax more non-healthy things, like sodas. Not much different than taxes on cigarettes (whether you agree with that tax or not, it's the same basic concept).

Personally, I'd like to see what many consider a socialist healthcare plan. Provide a basic level of care to everyone, regardless of income or ability to pay. If you want additional/better coverage, then you purchase a regular insurance plan. Think of it like Medicare. I see commercials all the time advertising supplemental insurance. Now everyone has healthcare, and if you can afford it you'll purchase an additional private health insurance plan (thus not causing our existing private healthcare system to crumble).

So, scared that you'll have to wait six months just to see a doctor, just to find out that funds have run out until the next fiscal year for the treatment you need? Well, if you can afford additional insurance, it can cover the extra cost to see a doctor now, and the extra cost to start treatment now (until the government health plan kicks in). If you can't afford extra insurance...would you really be worse off in that case than you would be with today's system?

Just my thoughts. Don't expect them to be popular. That's ok, I never was popular.

Well maybe I'm just a little to logical. What big government run program isn't a disaster? Welfare? Medicare? Medicade? Cash for clunkers? The list goes on... You know one interpretation of insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting a different result-

I'm going to have to quote one of my dearest heros Patrick Henry- "I know no way of judging the future but by the past." Bearing that in mind, keep the government out of my doctors office, and my dinner plate.

Smitty you carry half sizes? 10.5 wide. Do the little faces stare up at you, can't wait to throw on my seal skin coat, and see if I can rub my feet on the polarbear skin and shock everyone.

I don't see it as "telling people what they can eat". They tax an extra bit on unhealthy foods, because people eating those foods are going to need more expensive health care. Three cents per can really isn't that much. Now, I'm not so naive as to think that tax wouldn't ever be raised, or that all that money will be used just for healthcare. I'm sure it won't be long until people are running to Mexico to bring back some duty-free Pepsi.

The numbers for Medicare aren't that bad. Sure there's lots of wasteful spending, but it's more efficient than any health insurance provider I've seen numbers on. Welfare...I think it could be revamped. Idea's good, but we need to get those who can work, to work! Don't care if it's just digging holes and then filling them back in (though really, there's plenty of REAL work that needs to be done, that we could get people on welfare to do; perhaps man phones in the unemployment offices?). Cash for Clunkers...depends on whether you think the car companies need a bailout, and whether the government should spend money on environmental issues. If you say yes to both, then it's a runaway success! Car companies are selling cars like hotcakes, and these gas guzzlers are being replaced by more fuel efficient vehicles. If you don't agree with either, then yeah, it's another waste of money (but no more so than just handing the money over to GM and Chrysler).
