For once... I'm going to say something negative. About that yahoo group.... Oh, wait. No. Mom told me that if I don't have anything good to say, don't say anything. So...

Re: any Blue Bird bus folks??

there are some good yahoo groups. i belong to two, toyota motorhomes and yamaha fj. They are both very active and helpful. What I don't like is the awful layout of the site. Retriving info that is more than 15 minutes old is a pain in the ass.

Re: any Blue Bird bus folks??

Did ya know the old guy has 12 buses. I'm old and cannot help myself. My Crown needs an engine trasplant but the weather is 26 at nite3 and 41 daytime temps. So we got a Blue Bird from Ebay. We gotta keep on visiting the US. The Blue Bird is a great bus. The bus was built by International, with a 7.3, runs great, Allison 543, new Michlans and new brakes. I got bus for $3500, got in airplane drove to Idaho. Bus is super great except fora few small details. All is good except milage is 4.7MPG and top speed is 55MPH. Just bought new rear gears. Gear were 6:25, gears will be 3:73. Cruise will be abo0ut 1900RPM at 65MPH.
I'm hoping to get about 10 miles per gallon. The BB site is quiet and no spam. I have not found the BB owner. Frank

You live in Idaho and you drop the gears that much? Wow you will be fat on flats but slower than old lady driving to church going uphill. And I know Idaho is hilly. I lived in Oregon.

Rear axle gears decisions

Well if my Bird is a slug, I'll add money and make more horsepower. I'm gonna add a turbo, propane and water/alcohol. I still have time. I want to decrease the engine from running at 2900 RPM. Frank

A friend of mine owns a machine shop. When you walk into his business, there is a sign that says, "Horsepower = Dollars! How fast do you want to go?"
