Bus Weight

Any ideas on what an 87 BB 14 window bus actually weighs? Trying to figure it's salvage value.

It's actually a 15 window. Salvage will pay $5.50/100lbs, deduct 100lbs for each tire. Auto parts store is balking on returning the new compressor because it's "been installed", yet never turned over once.

Tow yard guarantees me my 15 window bus only weighs 13000lbs. They say the BB use a much thinner frame than my International. My International gutted weighs 19400, I'll be disappointed if the BB only weighs 13k

Se pa is 6.75 per pound. I would simply stop at 5.5 and hold for higher. Tempted to stop now as 6.75 is insane if i was not electric would not even be worth the fuel. Ouch. If you are able to at all. Park it till next spring summer when price rebound.

I'm glad I waited, prices on vehicles are up to $7 right now. Tow truck driver still insisting that my bus is only going to weigh 12,000 lb.

I would think. My 99 International is 3 feet shorter completely gutted of floor walls and ceiling and weighs 19400 lb. I would think the longer Bluebird with everything still in it would weigh near that.

I see a "guess the scrap weight of this bus and win a prize" contest in the making. I going to guess over 20k if it still has the seats in it. Mine is 36 ft long and is 23,300 lbs.

Even deducting the weight of the wheels and tires, which I suspect is less than 1000 lbs. I would have guessed it at around 20,000
