back home from the rally!! great time, great busses, great people!!! and yes there were school busses! even got to see my first ever crown in person!

the transit and coach bus folk were very friendly, and I learned a lot about coaches and detroit engines.. cool stuff!!!

also loved the fact so many work-in-progress busses were there... Love to see people bringing out their projects still in dream-and-construct phases!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the pics Christopher!

I regret we didn't make it down there this weekend, but at least a few pictures were nice.

Got to meet Christopher and see his bus. We had a long chat. It was a great weekend despite the heat. Here's a video of the bus parade. Christopher is at 1:46 my son is at 7:03 in the MCI in Greyhound livery. I'm at 9:15 behind the London double decker.

Thanks for sharing video, Somewhere. I intend on making next years' event. I was in the middle of paint job.

Have yet to step inside a Crown....no, I'm not jealous.

So much cool metal and rubber.

the next one I know of is in hershey PA... im thinking this one in evansville was a one-time thing? unless they decide to make it an annual gathering.. as long as no developer claims that nice solid field next to the station it is a perfect spot to hold a rally..

this was my first time ever seeing a crown in person... seeing that pancake engine in person.. i was like WOW!.

I'd love to find a scenic-cruiser and actually make the factory A/C work!..

Wow, this was just about in my backyard and I didn't know about it! How did you find out about it? I'm deflated that I didn't get to come down, see the buses, and meet you guys....

Shoot, I posted the link about 3 weeks ago. I'm not too far, but needed to work on bus as I'm not fooled by this heat wave- I know what's in store.

This thread started on the 6th announcing it to this board. Other boards have been talking about it for quite a while. I registered in Feb.

It may or may not happen every year, Evansville was very accommodating however, that grassy area might not be available. Also it was done commemorating the restoration of the art deco Greyhound bus station. It's still open for discussion by the Holt brothers.

I popped ot top the top a couple times but this board seems quite busy in the summer months.. then in winter seems it goes through slow periods where only the same few threads get updated.. as not as many people are travelling or working on their busses..

the only next event i know of is in june in herhsey PA.. and then the flxible rally will be in ohio again like it was last year..

bus ralleys arent as common as car shows... of course there is nothing stopping us from having our own mini-skoolie meetups.. like the skooliepalooza in AZ that was in january and the florida meetup we are doing this coming weekend.

theres more than a few of us right here in ohio and indiana.. not all are on skoolie.net.. the gentleman with the cool superior is up in bellfontaine ohio.. booyah is in ohio, somewhereelse is in indiana, markyDee, kubla, me .. we could easily see what it takes to say get a shelter-houise and parking area at a local park and bring a bunch of busses together..

funny thing - there was a guy with a serious Prevost built at cusrtom-coach in columbus ohio.. I didnt get to talk to him.. but I stopped into the paint shop to get some touch up paint for my redbyrd.. and dang there he was.. in that shop working on his own 1943 Flxible conversion! small world..

I would LOVE to meet a few of you in person and snatch some wisdom in person. I just uncovered a bit more rust than I was ready for (although I just knew I had rust lurking under the windows), and have gotten a bit rattled by it. I'm a computer geek, not a bus geek (although I'm really trying hard...) and, well .... Give me a computer and I know what to do; rust on frame or even some welding, eh, not so much.... I'm still bedazzled by the guys who can take the passenger compartment off the frame, fix it, paint it, put it back on, and make it look soooo easy in the process....

Not to hijack the thread, but how do you fix rust on the frame without uncovering too much of the bus at a single time (its outside and subject to the elements...)?

Heh, maybe I should be asking over in my build thread....

That was fun......thanks for sharing. Not enough shorties, though....was hoping Cadillac would circle the block and jump back in.

So........Greyhound is okay with a lot of privately-owned buses riding around with their logo, but school districts paint over their info?
