Cheap Insurance Florida Before conversion and after?
Bidding at auction that ends tomorrow but was just told I have to have insurance for them to transfer title and register it. Who did you use just from point A to point B as a bus? Who after conversion?
Also, dealer said they are required to title, register and plate vehicles per Florida law. You can't use a DMV when purchasing from a dealer, but they are charging just about double the DMV rates. Is this normal as we have bought other things and never had this issue.

I am confused are you bidding at a online auction or are you buying direct from a dealer?

It is an auction apparently run by a dealer.

Do you currently have a auto policy with someone? My auto policy covers any new purchases for 30 days.

I do with State Farm, but they won't cover it as a bus, only RV.

I'm with State Farm and they will cover it for I believe 7 days to get it home. I asked in a round about way. "Am I covered in ANY vehicle I purchase to get it home?" The answer was Yes. I ten asked "What about a School Bus?" The answer was Yes for 7 days from purchase to get it home, after that I would need the CFPU policy until it is converted.

I have State Farm in Washington State. Here they cover purchases for 14 days.
When I got ready to pick up the buses I emailed my SF agent with the vin# and asked "is this covered?". They responded "Yes, you are covered".

Just got off the phone with my agent to verify the facts they told me before. My existing policy covers me for 7 days in any "new purchased automobile" . After checking with the underwriters and explaining the exact details, that it's a bus, it was confirmed that I would be covered under the "any new purchase" clause, even though after the 7 days they will not insure as a bus or anything else until it has been conversion completed.

Thank You! I will check again with a different agent because who I spoke to said nope and nothing about the 7 days, which would be exactly what I need.

You have to ask them the right way. "Am I covered in any new/used auto purchase?"
The answer should be"yes, for 7 days." When you get that answer then ask What about a bus? Then have them to explain why it is not considered a covered auto?
I asked my agent if it was different in different states and he said "No, the underwriters cover all states."

I have been knocked out :-(
Two dealers jumped in the last couple of hours and are bidding for the lot. They ran the prices on every bus over my budget. So disappointed. I thought I was finally going to get my bus. Now I just get to watch the dealers drive off with every one to resell at a huge increase.

Look outside of FL and GA for good buses at MUCH more reasonable prices.
FL is the place to sell a bus, not to buy one.
Our buses are crap here anyhow.

Thanks. I am looking everywhere but no luck so far. Seems so many of us are doing conversions, prices are going up.

Its mostly the dealers and exporters driving the price up.
The supply of pre-emissions buses is dwindling every year.
