Correct Oil Pressure

Does anyone know what the correct oil pressure should be for a 1978 International 345?

Thanks

Upon startup mine runs about 75 to 80. after the engine warms up it drops to about 45 or 50. this is at idle.

when driving it goes bact to 70 75.

I run 10w30 in mine, are you running something more viscous?

not sure what is in it.

I just bought it about three weeks ago and have not changed the oil.

I am working on the electrical system right now.

i was thinking i would probably put 5w30 in it.

That kind of pressure isn't out of the realm of possibility, but it might be worthwhile doing a secondary check on it. It's not uncommon foir sending units or the gauges themselves to get knocked out of whack. If you actually have that much oil pressure, congrats.

I thought the gauge was out, so i replaced the electronic gauge with a mech. one and i get the same results.

If that high is good, then OK, I'm just not used to seeing that high of pressure.
