Question Crown from 1987 or 1974?

Hey everyone!

I'm planning to come over to the U.S. to buy a schoolbus.
After a lot of research and some talking on this board I think I want a 40feet 2 axle Crown.

For roadtax reasons the bus must be from 1987 or older.
Roadtax in my country will be €120,- a year for a bus from 12-31-1987 or older, Instead of €4300,- a year for a younger one
If the bus is from 1974 or older it's roadtax free.
One from 1974 has some more benefits over the 1987, I can register it as a camper which can't be done to a younger one. (Also tax reasons)
One from 1975 or younger have to be registerd as a truck, and a truck has to have 50% floorspace free.
So you see why the 1974 would be my best bet tax and building wise.

So now my question is:
What are the differences? Are they pretty much the same or are there differences?
Also would like to know what a normal price is to pay for a 1986 or 1974?
I found 2 Crowns from 1986 and 1987 in California with Detroit 671 and 5sp transmission for $8000,-.
But I have no idea about the 1974's.
I'm pretty much new to Skoolie's so any help would be appreciated.

Also would like to know where to find maintenance parts for these busses?
Any suggestions?

Kind regards Bryce.

If a 1974 is cheaper for you, then I'd find one of that vintage. They should be virtually the same other than maybe a few bits.
The Crowns are great.
The guys who are really into Crowns havent been on here much lately, but I'm sure someone with actual knowledge of these fine buses should chime in soon enough...

That Facebook page looks like a good page to find people who know about Crowns... To bad I don't have a Facebook account.

Neither do I and nothing will change that. Not even my love of buses.
