diamondplate

I am about to install some diamondplate in my skoolie. I know that over time the alluminum will loose it's luster. I'm thinking about spraying the alluminum with automotive clearcoat.

anyone ever tried this?

Plotting the next project now. Looking for a clean diesel pusher with low rust/miles. Identical plans with plumming and biodiesel added :)

That same question came up on another board a while ago. The consenus was don't do it. A few people tried it on the sides of their buses that had polished alum and it yellowed and started to flake off. Stainless is best for holding it's shine but it sounds like you got a deal on the aluminum.

Yes that will work. I usually polish up my aluminum parts and then put on a clear powdercoat. They stay looking great forever.
