Hi All,

So I have the OEM doors that came with the bus and was wondering about removing the glass, then covering (maybe partially) it with sheet metal and riveting it closed.

I currently have a surface mount deadbolt in place at the bottom of the door along with a newly installed T handle for the cable release (no air door) which also has a lock. So I have 2 locks on the door from the outside. I'd like to either put up diamond mesh or perform a full window delete. Thoughts?

P.S. I do not have the capacity to weld.

Your profile doesn't tell us what kind of bus you have so I am not sure if this applies to you.

The glass in my service doors provides visibility that I would dearly miss if covered it up.

Have you done much in-town driving in your bus?

You may find that you come to appreciate the glass in the lower portion of the door.

If you are able, I would suggest putting some miles on the bus before you too invested in the build.

Find any mechanical gremlins that could derail your project early.

I put about 1500 miles on my Bluebird before starting conversion. I drove it on the Interstate empty, around town and finally used it as a moving truck hauling all of my household stuff over three passes in late July.

I have moved forward with my conversion with some peace of mind with the mechanical condition of my "foundation".

Just for belt & suspenders, as soon as the roof raise is completed we are going to take another road trip just for grins.

Aha, I took it on a 6 hour interstate trip.
