Found! 1996 International 3800 T444E

Hey all!

Found an International 3800 T444E on Craigslist for listed $2500, so I went and checked it out.

Its at an impound lot, and has been sitting for what the owner said has been 8-10 months. After jumping it, the engine sounded OUTSTANDING.

Odometer reads 176k. No rust to be found. The only thing that sucks is that its been sitting with the windows open so its a little gross on the inside and theres about a million cobwebs.

I offered $1800!! Just waiting to hear back. Was this a good decision??

open windows for 10 months could mean alot of rust is already happening... assuming there was not a lot of floor rust before you can probably gut it and save it.. but you;ll need to fully gut the floor including any plywood, rubber, etc.. if it had significant floor rust before it might mesn a decent amount of floor metal replacement..

the 444E is a good engine though a little underpowered in the mountains at times unless you sare lucky to have at least the 190 or 210 HP version.. (if ytou pop the hood there is a sticker on one of the valve covers stamped with the hoirsepower..)..

what do you plan to do? traverse the country mountains and all? weekend warrior? snow-bird?

if its a good decently rust free good running bus close to home 1800 bux is a good deal indeed!

I think I will mostly be moving it from Atlanta to Pennsylvania, then probably leaving it stationary if possible. Not looking to do a whole lot of traveling with it.

why a bus if no travelling?

you should be able to drive any drivetrain to PA pretty easily.. take it easy in the mountains and you'll do just fine with it. be sure to change the oil though... that 444E uses oil for hydraulic flkuid so moist or dirty engine oil can ruin the injectors in pretty short order..

Yes, I've got the same model but a '98. Mine looked good when I bought it, but after pulling seats out I discovered many rotten spots in the floor. Windows were leaking for years.
