Its a 350 with 3 speed and granny low. 4x4 with a warn winch and beefy fabricated bumper. It was stored indoors at least since 2006.
Engine was supposedly rebuilt with a new clutch about 3500 miles ago.
We've been looking for something older to replace our craptastic plastic vehicles. We almost bid on a minty 1989 Grand Marquis up in Guntersville AL. But we had to prioritize.

- I bought a new 88 GMC ext cab heavy half - built it the way I wanted right out of the book - was a great truck - 350, 4 speed auto, limited slip, some extras in the cab like extra padding in the seats and leather-like vinyl on the seats, and enough trim on the exterior to make it look nice without being flashy - lots of power, and good mileage - now I drive a 93 GMC HD 3/4 with a trailer package, air bags and extra heavy duty 'everywhere' - almost no rust ( one little spot ) I'm happy with it - I keep it serviced and repaired as necessary and it should last me for years to come

Just talked to the volunteer fire captain. He's a really nice guy. Gonna pick up the truck next weekend. Pretty cool to be able to pick it up on a weekend. Since they're volunteers in a VERY rural area he said weekends work better.
He said no rust probs and it starts right up. Everything works, however the winch and tail lights need to have the wiring checked out. He said they work but the connectors are old and sometimes they have to be jiggled or coaxed.
Belts and hoses are old but no leaks and, again, it all works.
Tires have 100% tread and only 3500 miles. New in 2006, so probably will just run em. I've never had age related issues on decent tires on light duty stuff and its been stored indoors since they've had the truck.
Its got mushy brakes but will stop eventually. He said its likely the master cylinder or the booster. That's easy enough but I'll probably just get it home then worry about fixing that.
Thinking I'll trailer it home with Shaun's Z71. Its got enough towing capacity and weighs a good bit more than the truck I bought.
Once I get it home I'll do all new fluids, hoses, and belts.

I have more work than I can even do. I just don't have anywhere to clock in and no one to tell what to do or how to act. My lights are on and my bills are paid. Just smoked a fat medical spliff. Life's great, especially once I've got a nice work truck!
I've been vanless with no tow rig for over a month. Sold it and took till now to replace it.

I still won't have AC and I'll be shifting gears since its not an auto but I think it's gona be a sweet truck.

Got a few shipping quotes. Most are around $500 but a couple companies actually quoted me $1200 for a 400 mile haul.

$2 a mile seems pretty standard for shipping.. you can get less if you find a flat-bedder looking for a backhaul heading out of the state.. (I think you said this truck is south?)

oh north of you.. yeah hard to get cheap rates... trucks going down south into florida and then returning out are looking for back-hauls.. unless you are produce or Reefer theres a lot going down and a lot of dead-heading out from florida.. so they often will take about any freight going north

Yeah, I'm done with plastic, computerized vehicles.
Although I must admit- the dash pad and door panels are abs plastic! lol
Its the first year of TBI and supposed to be rebuilt 14 years and 3500 miles ago.
This truck will be the most serious 4x4 I've had since my old Scout II.
I've heard the transmission is considered nearly bulletproof. Wide ratios but with that granny gear and 4 Lo on the NP208 its probably like a tractor!

TBI is cool.. Ive hacked a bunch of them in the past for more power.. setting the distributor timing is a bit wonky but I dont mind TBI..
I had that trans in my one truck and drove it as a 3 speed.. but man you could pull trees outta the ground in granny!

Bidding on some cop cars. We'll look like a neighborhood of first responders lol. Got two cops next door, two down the street too. That would be 5 cop cars and a fire dept truck on on block.

If I was stationary I would look into one of those cop cars. Seems like you can get some good deals on pretty good cars that need a good steam cleaning.
