I have not looked at having one shipped. I assumed that it would be too expensive to be justified on a $3k-$6k car.
I'll check it out.
I would love to fly out and drive back home. Just not this time of year.

I'm partial to the 99-00 referred to as the "NB1". 01-05 are the NB2. The first generation cars from 89-97 are NA.
89-05 are the best. Those are the enthusiast cars.
THe 6 speed isn't a real deal breaker. They have a slightly less crisp shift but they do have a higher final drive and lower rpm's on the interstate. We ended up with a 5 speed but I'd have take either. Drive a couple and see what you like.
99-00 are the only years that are designed for 87 octane. All other years prefer 89.

Aaaaannnd- I checked my work on that thermostat and lo and behold it had a tiny little weep on the bottom of the housing. That's probably due to my not using any gasket dope on it and just putting it on dry. 
New gasket with the tiniest dab of rtv and an hour and a half later its dry with no signs of leaks.
Third time's a charm? 
Hopefully this is the last of the BS and we can now simply enjoy this wonderful little car.
Reminds me a bit of a Karmann Ghia when looking through the windshield across the little hood.
Hoping to do a NB2 header swap and maybe a performance midpipe. Will retain the stock muffler as it sounds really nice and mellow as is. The NB2 header is supposedly a fantastic cheap upgrade and as a bonus it retains the factory heat shield and egr although the egr adapter is female vs male its supposedly an easy fix. Supposed to be good for like 5hp and nice torque boost across the rpm range. Plus the NB2 header is lighter by like 8-10 lbs.
I guess its time I join a Miata forum too.

Never owned one. Not sure I've ever even sat in one but I like them too. MGB would be cool. I've had a few 1st gen RX-7s.

We finally decided it was time to dump the SUE-baru a few months ago. Got more than we hoped for selling it to webuyanycar.com.
Got a clean garage kept 99 miata 5 speed for Roxy. We fell in love with the car. Totally head over heels. Most fun vehicle I've ever had and yeah the aftermaket support is astounding. Reminds me of the vw restoration parts market in the mid-90's.
It helps that they're the most popular convertible in history and everyone's weekend racecar. I'd recommend one to anyone capable of fitting into it.

Therein lies the problem. NB is ok if you take the door handle/arm rest off. NC isn't terrible. None of them are comfortable across country. Now if you're short, they are great cars.
I like Minis too but those suckers cost WAY too much.

NC is the roomiest but is also the least "miatalike".
For a new car the current miata is pretty rad. Weighs the same as my nb.

So far so good. The thermostat housing is nice and dry. I checked all the hoses and tightened the clamp on the lower rad hose a few day ago.
I've been to the other side or Orlando at 80+ mph a couple times now and all is well.
Never had so many snags on such a simple job before. The car is pretty darn easy to work on, thankfully. In all fairness to the car it was mostly my fault. Murphys law was very evident with this repair. Now I can relax and enjoy it knowing when summer returns its got a beefed up cooling system in perfect operating condition.

Brakes finally have to be fixed on the fire truck.
I have a new master cylinder and booster. The hard lines from the MC are so rusted I'm not even gonna mess with saving them I ordered new custom bent SS lines.
After getting under the truck today I decided I need a new proportioning valve as well. Its OLD and leaky and I bet its not working anymore. Prob why the rear locked up so easy.
I'll do all the rear lines later, they're actually not bad looking.
Anyone ever replaced a proportioning valve? Seems like it would be a pita to bleed. I hate bleeding hydraulics.

Cool, thanks for the feedback Dan. How ya been?
I finally used 4wd a few weeks ago.
In the middle of the night, POURING rain... some jacktard in a dodge van just like my old one is stopped in the middle of the road. By the time I saw him I locked em up, corrected, did some dukes of hazard miracle driving and didn't hit anyone or any vehicles. The only damage was my side view mirror. Clipped the van with it.
Turns out he was a friend of a friend and they had another fullsize dodge stuck in the muddy ditch. I put it in 4 low, locked the hubs, backed into that ditch and pulled it out like a boss.

Well I finally am starting on the brakes of this truck. Been putting all my time and energy into the bus but I need the truck for my errands.
Pulling the booster, master cylinder, hard lines, and proportioning valve today and putting in all new parts. Then the bleeding fun begins.
Will bench bleed the MC first. Hopefully it all goes well and I can use my truck tomorrow!

If the deal goes through we are getting a cheap used beater car since nothing we own has a back seat except the bus.
A friend is moving back to Africa and is supposed to sell us a 2010 Suzuki Kizashi for cheap. AWD and comfy seats. AC even works!
Will post a pic or two if/when we get it.
