Heat blocking window film

Ive been looking into window covering reflectix, film and such. I found this film that claims to block 62% of the heat. And you can see through it. So, anyone have any experience with this stuff.

Limo tint (5%) shades 95% of the light. I would look more for a radiant heat repelling residential film over an automotive film if heat is your main goal. I just saw your other reply and you are on the right track. Stick with Gila products, they are the best on the market, but keep in mind they have 2 qualities of film. The stuff they sell to the industry is better than the product they supply the auto parts stores.
I was surprised to read this:
DAYTIME PRIVACY: Mirrored exterior appearance provides daytime privacy (when the sun is down and lights are on inside, film no longer conceals views)

Most other companies rave about the mirror effect for privacy. But this is totally based on what side of the film the light is on. It's one way mirror for you during the day and the opposite for outside during the night, you see a mirror inside, everyone outside see everything you're doing inside. Seldom do the film places tell you down side.

If you plan on doing all your windows I would highly recommend you set up an account with Gila and buy a 100' roll, it will probably be less than half what you would pay ordering it in any other quantity.

I stand outside my bus and look at the spanse of windows and agree the original have some character to the bus. I had planned on removing them all and putting specific sized and shaped windows in specific locations. When start adding up the price of 15 RV windows it's pretty daunting. So I plan on long 6" tall horizontal windows high at each of the 4 bunks in back for sure and see what window I will make from there once I see the layout, some will get deleted and skinned.

Which is why you want to stay with a residential and not auto film. Talk to Gila and tell them your requirements and they will recommend the correct film, they have about 100 different kinds for different applications.

Yep the residential stuff works. We get a flyer for it with our electric bill. My brother swears by it. I can’t use it bcuz I have the blinds in between the panes of glass and the stuff goes on the inside. (my house that is). I understand the film has metal strips in it that reflect the suns rays, but you can’t see them. It’s the same concept as the beads that go in the roof paint. The little beads reflect rays rather than soak them in.

mirrored window film

reference mirror reflective film: Mine worked great on the 3 back windows that did not have any tint to them but on the side glass that has a slight tent, the film did not provide the mirrored look. Its like the 2 tints are working against each other.

I was curious if perforated vinyl wrap material would reflect more heat. You could even go with white vinyl which I guess may reflect more heat. A youtube pro installer was recommending products from: ImageVue - Perforated Vinyl Films - Uncoated - Products - Clear Focus Imaging. Some can be custom printed and some come in colors or their most reflective for interior office windows blocks 52% of the heat

Does anyone know how reflective the Gila or 3m film is? My state doesn't allow more than 20 percent reflectivity for autos.
