Pulled the center rubber up and the wood was toast. Wet and crumbling..we've had a solid week of down pours and i can see where the water is coming in..it follows the seams on the roof and runs down over the windows. I guess the good news is the bus seems to hold water!Click image for larger version

I would like to see a closer picture of the windows in your bus taken from above the level of the wood that covers the lower half of the windows. I want to see how it's done.

If I put wood straight across the middle of my windows it will have a gap between the wood and the aluminum center. That just seems like an invitation for trouble with liquids or food crumbs getting back there and causing all kinds of problems.
How did your window dilemma turn out?

I am on hold right now, but the current plan is to have inserts for the lower half of the windows that are 1" insulation covered with something to make it more attractive and cleanable both inside and out. There are lot of things we are just going to have to figure out once we actually get to that point. Sometimes that's easier.

I'm going backpacking this weekend and my son left for his sophomore year at Northeastern a few days ago, so I have been focused on catching up on some things around the house and yard that I had postponed while I had my son around to work with me on the bus.

I'm hoping I come back from this trip with some renewed enthusiasm, but I HAVE TO excavate my garage first!!! I HAVE to be able to park in the garage before it starts snowing!!!

I may be doing a few half windows. Im planning on blacking out the windows with tint then reflectixs then 1" insulation ,frame it in and cover it up. Interested to see what you come up with.

My 1" has the foil on one side so I returned the reflectix. I was thinking window tint, but given that all my windows are vertical I am now questioning the value of it. When the sun is high, it's all about the roof, not the windows. Full afternoon sun would, I suppose, be worth it. But I'd have the insulation in the windows in them anyway, with the foil out, so I'm unsure as to how much difference it would make.

If you're insulating, then the reflectix is a total waste and will actually cost you more than the real insulation. A sheet of mylar and some bubble wrap would be MUCH cheaper and is the exact same thing.
But if you're insulating and burying the reflectix you could skip that placebo stuff and not even notice a difference.

But there's no point burying it under ACTUAL insulation. And did I mention it costs way too much for being nothing more than mylar and bubblewap?

I'll bet some nice heavy wool curtains in a traditional Scottish tartan would do just as well and it would look STYLISH!!!
Nothing says class like a nice tartan!

I made a Reflectix windshield cover for my first bus.

Worked great for that. Pretty useless otherwise.

Just my $0.02

Pulling the floor is a chore...but the right thing to do if you plan on any build out on top of it.
