I picked up a new truck a few weeks ago.

A 1953 Ford F-100 built on a 1979 Ford Bronco chassis with a 302 ci under the hood.

Looks good! my grandfather had a 50's truck I think it was a Chevy though. I wish I was older at the time when he got rid of it, because I would have taken it off his hands.

Very Sweet. Two thumbs up.

Good eye. I do need to do a bit of work to the front end. It also needs a windshield wiper motor, a heater/defroster and cab insulation and carpeting. I am also picking up a different set of bucket seats for it tomorrow.

I'll give you that that's my favorite Bronco body style, but I've never been impressed by a 351m or a 400m which bums me out about them.

That is a sweet truck and well done. The only thing that might make it cooler is if it was an original Napco conversion, but I think that's asking an awful lot out of a Ford that old.

good looking truck IIRC 1979 was the last year for the original bobtail bronco and the new full size bronco's. your truck looks like it's on the new full size style chassis that is more user friendly on road than the old bobtails, did i mention cool truck

You haven't driven the right one...some planning can turn a 400M into a rip-roaring 400HP beast cheap.

And, of course, a 460 bolts right in...

No doubt! I look at those heads with their ginormous valves and I can't help but think there must be some potential to get some upper end power out of them. But....by the time I see them they're in old, worn, tired out rigs that get a 460 right away anyway.

Re: I picked up a new truck a few weeks ago.

Hot Rod managed 425HP and 450lb/ft (sounds like a heck of a towing engine) from a 400M a while back--for about $2500, with single exhaust, catalytic converters, a 2bbl carb, and 100% Kailfornia smog-legal. Toss some of the new stuff they used (like a $250+ carb, a $150 intake, & a new MSD ignition system) for swap-meet stuff (and use a dirt-cheap 351C intake with spacer plates) and you can probably have 400HP for under $2K. Try THAT with a 460~
