Is this a cool looking bus or what?

I think this is a very clean looking bus

And it can be yours for only $28,500.

Nice. They have bluebird buses here on base and while they are shaped like a regular flat front school bus, they have sliding windows like an Rv does. They look pretty slick and would be awesome in a skoolie. I'm wondering now how to do it to my bus. I'd have to cut out a few roof supports though. Probably not a good thing.

Nice bus...but at the price I can buy 10 buses like the one I have....

You just might be a Redneck if...
...your motor home used to be a school bus!
...Your living room has a steering wheel!
...Your home has brake lights

I know, I know. I didn't write "Look at the cheap bus I found". It's pretty much the same bus as mine. I think I will try for that kind of look.

I don't see what makes that bus worth as much as a starter home in northern Minnesota. Yes, it's an All American. Yes, it has an MT643. Yes, it has a gennie and air conditioner that are diesel powered. But is any of that worth the $20,000 more they're asking versus an All American skoolie that is similarly equipped? Maybe it's because it was a package deal. I didn't know the 3116 was available in the AA's. I'll have to add that to my list. I have heard lots of good things and an AWFUL lot of bad things about that one.
Skooling state at a time...

It's not just that bus. All their buses are priced that way. Click the used buses link and look. I think they break out the ol' crack pipe before they come up with the prices. I did call them once and talked to a salesman. He was very nice. Probably because he thought he found himself a sucker. That's not true, I think he was a nice guy. He told me that the buses were CA approved. They had seat belts and I'm sure they had been inspected for certification. Any repairs that were needed had been done. I think their customers are school districts that don't have the budget for a brand new bus. Look at most of the used buses out there. They have been riden hard and put away wet. Most are probably not suitable for a school district. Some of the stuff that we do on the cheap, a school would never be able to do. They would have to pay a shop to do and for big $$. I know what you're thinking. No I don't work for them and yes they are on crack.

I just think they are on crack, period.

The skoolies that come up fpr auction at a small fraction of that price have been maintained. They are far from basket cases. They may need tires, brake work, etc. So what.

Any school district with more than a few buses has to have a full time mechanic on staff and a decent sized garage and tools. This puts them one up on the majority of us hacks.

As a taxpayer, I think it is criminal that school systems basically throw away buses with soooooo much life left in them....and yes, I have 2 kids that ride those buses, daily.

As a prospective skoolie owner....someday, all I have to say, if somebody's gonna steal those things, might as well be me.

You can damn well bet that whover bought that bus, didn't pay more than 20% of what they are asking, maybe 25.

Do they deserve a profit for the risk that comes along with offering a warrantee? I guess. But, 28K for something with an auction market price around 5-7K. I don't think so.

More power to them, if they can find a sucker for that price I guess.

BTW, what does a new 40ft BBAA go for? Gotta be wayyyyyyy over 100K, I would guess. Seems like every damn bus in my over taxed town is a 2 year old pusher rig. Hate to think what their bus budget is.

I think the lack of rub rails looks super slick. That's the plan for mine .
