Is this a lot of rust?

Hey guys,

Iím in the process of looking for busses and came across a pretty good looking one in terms of length, engine, trans, etc. but it also came with this picture of the belly of the bus.

Is this a lot of rust? A little rust? I donít really know how to gauge it because I donít have a lot of experience.

The bus is from Iowa if that adds any information

Where does the bus live? It will be good indication hr the rust will bbad or not. That's rustier than I like on a frame, but it's the floor that is important to check.

Hard to tell from a pic. Best bet is to beat & poke around to see how deep it goes. A small ball peen on things like frame rails and a phillips screwdriver for sheet metal. Most common areas for bad body rust on Skoolies is around the rear wheel wells...the entry steps...door bottoms and the floor (and the only way to know about the floor is to pull the mat & plywood).

Some body work is simple, others can be a nightmare. If in doubt, ask (pay) a pro to take a look. Can be money well invested.

That is all surface rust. Wire wheel and fresh paint!

Hard to tell but its rustier than I would want. But I'm a bit picky.
My van is from Nebraska. I'm never buying anything from the midwest again.
Rust sucks.
Are YOU in Iowa? If not I'd probably skip bus shopping there.
Easier to buy a clean one that spend all those hours fixing rust.
