loud buzzing

Have a 96 blue bird. Navistar 7.3 and Allison. Have had all door buzzers disabled and no issues. Recently when starting a loud buzzing coming from under weldon flasher location. Runs fine. Blinkers and stop lights fine. Fuses at battery good. Any ideas?

Mine will buzz if the air isn't up to a safe psi.

Does the buzzer stop when the air reaches operating pressures?

If your bus has air brakes it could be a low air pressure warning letting you know not to start driving until the pressure builds up.

And there should be a "wig-wag" to go along with it!

I don't have air brakes so not an air pressure warning. It starts buzzing soon as you turn key one click either way.

I think NY still spe'c's wig wags in their air brake equipped buses.

Everyone else gets by with lights and buzzers.

Since you don't have air brakes you have some sort of assisted hydraulic brakes.

You should hear a the sound of the hydraulic booster electric override working if you press the pedal with the engine off. It may sound a bit like a buzzer.

As far as additional buzzers are concerned, does your bus have roof hatches that have buzzers? The Transpec roof hatches can be very difficult when it comes time to get them closed properly to get the buzzers to stop buzzing.

could be the emergency exits.. mine have switches that make it buzz if they are open (rear door, e exit window, and roof hatches)

also one of the switches on the emergency exit window on my buss was broken, so maybe something is shorted somehow -- if anything that would buzz is shorted across whatever the sensor/switch may be it would buzz

Before Maxi brakes, the wig wag PLUS the fact that you have no brakes, surely was an attention getter!!

Young truck drivers today havent a clue what they missed. When I first started driving my first rig was a 10 wheel B81 Mack dump truck, Quadraplex transmission, no power steering and barely any brakes.

Did you ever figure out what that buzzing was? Im having the same issue now. It sounds like a different alarm than the emergency exits, and doesn't seem to come from the freightliner systems. I also have hydraulic brakes, and alarm doesn't come from emergency brake either.

THANK YOU for this thread

I went through all the ideas and mine ended up being my emergency roof hatch wasn't closed properly! Of course, that was the last thing I checked, LOL
I'm not sure I would have been sane after my 8 hour road trip coming up this weekend if I hadn't figured that out!

ir doesnt take much either.. one of those isnt closed perfectly abd it'll buzz and sometimes lock out the starter..

I think ECCB and I are gonna ditch all that crap on his shorty this weekend...

I suppose its nice as a remidner if you left something unsecured, however i check all the doors in my pre-trip..

Hey, I'm totally good with the idea of sensors that double check my doors, but I'd much rather just have a light on a panel as an indicator than a mind numbing buzzer or something that stops me from actually driving.

I like letting equipment check my work, but I'm the human, darn it. I get to drive around with my doors open if I want to! Besides, if you can't drive with the roof hatch open, how is someone going to run the harpoon?

YES! been looking forward to you coming to help all week!!!!

Maybe we should document it with vids or pics for others, as a sort of public service? "how to disable the school bus stuff" kinda thing? May be a nice, useful thing. We could go over what to check if folks hear buzzers or the interlock won't allow them to start their bus. just a thought.
I've got saturday wide open. Willing to start as early as you feel like. I'm on my second cup of coffee by 7 am usually.
I just got the new wiper switch today, as well!
