Low tech refridgeration

Since bus converters seem to be a very ingenious and creative lot, I thought you all might enjoy these two links. Just may be the answer for you serious boondockers out there.

The first is a small bit of history, the second is some homebuilt examples of probably the lowest tech refridgeration system ever invented.

I'm sure some of you probably already know about this technology, but for those that don't, it's pretty entertaining stuff.

Enjoy!

Here's something similar

That is SO extremely cool!! (pun intended)

Here is something similar:

http://homepower.com/files/solarice.pdf

Same principle, but using a parabolic trough solar collector for power (and not nearly as compact.)

Extremely neat item!

You should check out the Remote Living section of the Otherpower discussion board at http://www.fieldlines.com

Mostly it is "build your own homemade electrical generation and storage systems" stuff, but there are other neat things there, too.

I think a bus with a deck on top could have swing out solar collectors with an icemaker built in. It would be neat, anyway....
