Hello all-

I am planning on a school bus conversion, and am in the beginning stages of learning all about buses. I have lurked here and sifted through the archives and found a lot of useful info. Thank you all!

One question I have is about headroom on a standard school bus. Are there any models that have more interior height than the others? My understanding is that they are usually 6ft... but am (optimistically) curious if there are any with a few more inches of headroom.

Thanks in advance; and big thanks to the site owner for such a great resource!

Sean

I don't remember for sure but I think the Thomas buses with a high roof are something like 6'6". There is no standard though different manfactureers have different heights.

I also think that Thomas makes the tallest buses, but if you find one you really like you can always raise the roof to make it perfect for you. I have seen it done personally as my neighbor did it to his Eagle and it was simple to do and looks great.

He used a threaded road at each post and raised the top off after cutting it by spinning each post up the rod by the same number of turns.

Thomas's are 6'5"+, I'm 6'6" and it's not bad. My wayne (old) is actually 6'7" inside, which was the reason I bought it! Our BB high headroom buses are only 6'4".
Good luck -
