My luggage Rack on the Front Bumper

Hey I mounted a home made tailgate on the front of my bus....kinda moose bumper style. Take a look at the photo albumn "Road Billy". Anyways my issue is I mounted it with door hinges...cause I just need to pull the pins and take it off right? How much weight are those hinges good for? Door hinges are cheap so if no one replies I'm gonna do some destructive sampling....

By door hinges, do you mean the ones that are used on your bath room door in a house?, or something that is good and strong?

Door hinges are used a lot in stage craft but I think using nesting square tubes to make some front hitches seems like a much better idea.

Much better bullet style weld on hinges available.

Or how about some round tubing and some solid metal rod? Making your own hinge pins.

If you are in this part of the world https://www.industrialmetalsupply.com/Locations (map included in link) this place has some pre made heavy duty hinges. I would just take some square tube and make a lapped jointed offset T shape so you could slide in your rack and pin it lengthwise with you bus while in use and flip it upright and pin it in place like a brush guard when not in use. All you would need is a recip saw/chop saw/metal cutting device of your choice, a drill, some bolts or pins and a welder. Shouldn't take more than an hour or tow tops.
