Ok Mary is in ICU until tomorrow, they removed the appendix and found bowel leakage! Close one, a few more hours and ............

Thank you everyone, keep the help coming, ain't over yet.

I know that pain very well. Will be praying for a speedy recovery. Lost my appendix outside of Louisville, on the Indiana side at a McDonald's restaurant. Manager came into the restroom asking if I ate anything from his menu. What a hero he was..... FINALLY convinced him to call 911 for me. Introduced to Demerol. Easy to step onto and easy to step off from. Painkiller of choice instead of the crap they have today making crackheads out of patients.

Be sure of the painkillers they are using!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM FENTANYL, OXYCOTIN, and all that other junk. Seen way too many good people die from that as a paramedic in Houston.

Godspeed!!!!

Wow! it takes something like this to get some perspective. We think sometimes that this is a board about converting a school bus into something else. In reality it is about the people that convert school buses. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary. We hope she has many more years to enjoy the bus she worked so hard to build.

Wow...just now saw this. She is one tough woman to just ride out appendix bursting. I know from experience how bad that can be. Sending prayers for her continued healing and recovery.

Hoping for the best possible outcome. To reiterate, don't forget to take care of yourself, at our age it doesn't take long to deteriorate when you are worrying about your better half. Good luck and best wishes.

Talked to Mary's surgeon and he said her appendix burst about A WEEK AGO! She had gangrene and was a mess in there. She is off the ventilator and coming off a huge drug cocktail. She is aware of the year, the month and where she is but her comments are amusing. Hopefully this will pass (it's supposed to) and she will be Mary again soon.

Big step today much more to come. Amazing story of survival really.

Sounds like they grow 'em tough in Arizona.

Glad she's on the mend.

Glad she's gotten the care she needed!
Mine had burst for at least a week, too. So much of my colon was damaged due to the gangrene that I now have a "semicolon".

Let her know she's in our thoughts and prayers.

You all are amazing, thank you.

Yavapai Regional Medical Center has the most incredible staff I've seen. Both campuses are equally excellent.

Mary is out of ICU! She is progressing so well even her surgeon is impressed. Not ready for visits or even calls yet but it won’t be long I’m sure.

Still has a gastric tube, as soon as her gut gets active it comes out and real food will follow.

Yippeee 😊

That is wonderful news! The two of you have been on our minds since we read what happened, we're so glad she's on the mend. What a terrifying thing to have to go through.

She has also sent cancer packing, diagnosed with "Ductal Carcinoma in situ" in '11.

Hope I never piss her off.
