My New Monster Snow Blower Project...

My latest non-skoolie project:

I am building a monster snow blower by marrying a commercial walk behind lawn mower with an old heavy duty snow blower, and of coarse I am also building tracks. Afterall, what good is a snow blower without tracks?

The original machine had a 5hp engine. The new machine has a 12.5 hp Kawasaki fb460v engine. Hydraulic drive, with right/left completely independent from each other and infinitely variable forward/reverse speed control. One track can even go in reverse while the other is going forward.

I also plan to add lights, over-speed the blower, and add a few inches to the width.

It's not pretty so far, but I have made good progress on the tracks.

I will post more as the project progresses.....

You need to move much, much, MUCH farther south. The cold is getting to you! But take your little gizmo with you, you can probably turn it into something that you can go mud boggin' in!

Re: My New Monster Snow Blower Project...

The engine on the snow blower is from 1974, so my guess is that the montomergy ward snow blower is from around the same year....maybe 75 or 76, which still makes it older than me.

Here is a video i made of my progress so far.....still lots of work to be done and a few puzzles to solve.

Usually, Yes. I live about an hour north of Detroit. It is not unusual to get 6 inches at a time a few times per year.

Oddly enough, we had zero inches of snow until this morning, and it's already mid january. I should rename the machine "snow insurance"

Here is the latest video of the machine in action......
