Nailing

We are stumped when it comes to building cabinets (school bus). First off, should we or should we not pull apart the ceiling? If we don't and begin building cabinets what are we nailing into when we build the frame. Are you nailing into the ceiling metal? We cannot find any tutorial on this. Any help would be appreciated.

I nail nothing.
I've built a garage, 2 decks and a shed using deck screws. Oh yea, the bus too ;)

Got it right dond....NO NAILS.

You will be screwing everything....again & again. And once you get on the road, you will be rescrewing everything over & over again (or at least checking periodically for loose screws).

Road vibrations will play havoc on your build, so keep your screwdriver handy

Reamer Tek Screws | Wood and Metal Screw for Sale this is what i used. find em at lowes, home depot, etc. they bore through the wood, then the little ears break off and they self tap into the metal.

Welcome.

A uninsulated bus is a vary hot / cold bus. Almost useless IMO. That old ceiling needs to be removed. However this depends on what you want to use the bus for, where it will be geographically, your needs, ect.

Please go read as many build threads as you can. All the info you need is within our build threads.

Asking questions without first reading is a bad idea. Again everything is in the pages of our build threads.

I say this to try to keep this site from becoming cluttered, and other fellow members from spending to much time trying to answer every question on a individual basis.

I could answer all the questions your asking, but it would take half this page. Even then, the explanation would not be as good as what you will see in the build threads.

Thank you again. I would like to read all of the building related threads in this forum but I suppose that would take me a very long time and I think it's nice to hear different opinions of others. I really don't need all of the technical details (at least not yet) just ideas of what others do. I tried searching threads for this type of question but if you could direct me to related threads then I wouldn't make things cluttered. Sorry for the inconvenience.

What you may find is the more knowledgeable people tend to jump in less, and the less experienced / knowledgeable people will repeat something they read on the internet. Every time it gets repeated, it changes to their understanding and twist. Soon there is no truth left to the keyboard expert.

When something is learned from a build thread, it is truth. The build was done, the builder / user seen it work first hand. They learned from the experience, and took the time to share the knowledge gained.

That is what I enjoy about the forums.
