OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

This will be the official Skoolie Pet Thread, says me. Our pets are important loving members of our families. We should have a thread to share them with our skoolie family.

Re: Skoolie pet thread.

This is Nikki. She passed away in Sept, 2012. She was almost 12. I've had her since she was 6 1/2 weeks old.

Doing what dogs do best, sleep.

Bug is checking out the progress. He's not happy with the slow pace.

Re: OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

We are "petless".

We haven't gotten a pet since KC , my "Pretty, Precious Petite Be-Be" (she was 60 lbs) passed in early 2007 and Little Fat Pita Cat lost what was left of her feeble mind and ran away looking for her. She was sure the dog was someplace and kept looking for her. They were very close. All my pictures of her and her cat are locked away on some disks in the storage shed. We have decided no pets until we finish converting the bus. THEN I will go and locate another furkid to spoil.

Re: OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

This was my first dog. I named her Styx. She was half Collie and half Coyote (I think). She was about 4 months old when I found her at a gas station. I trained her to walk on the sidewalk with me, and then wait at the street corner.

She was a little crazy when riding in the car. She actually broke a few of her teeth while banging the windows while trying to bite the leaves of trees.

Styx was dog and people friendly (unless you tried to get into the car or touch her dog food bowl).

She was fearless. One time, we were at a park at night when a big German Shepard dog ran at her. Styx waited until that dog got 10 feet from her. Then she let out an amazingly loud yell that sounded like a blast from one of those sports horns that come in cans.

She lived to be 15 years old. She was the best and smartest dog I have ever had the pleasure to live with.

I miss her.

Re: OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

Here are two pictures of my second dog. Her name was Abby. I got her from the dog pound. She is the Doberman on the right of the first picture. She was what I would call "just not very intelligent".

She would usually sleep all day long.

One time I was doing some work at a house where there was an in-ground swimming pool. Abby was walking on the concrete pad that surrounded the pool. Then she did an amazing thing. She actually walked from the surround right into the pool. It was hilarious to see how freaked out that she was in the water. She was crying. I had to pull her out of the pool.

She lived to be 14 years old at which point she had become blind, deaf, and incontinent. I took her to the vet to have her put down. I cried. I buried her next to a friend's dog who had died a few years earlier.

This third photo is of when Abby used to play with my friend's Dobie named Maggie.

Re: OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

I did have two cats (one at a time). I like cats. They both ran away. I have no pics of them.

I now have two dogs. Buddy is the blonde male(gelded) and Emma is the black female (spayed). They live with me in the bus. They are not so obedient. They do not come to me when I call them. Luckily, they have lots of room to run around.

They are loving dogs. Buddy is 11 years old. Emma is 9 years old. Emma sings, very well, actually. You can find a link to a recording on my bus thread.

Emma wears the dog collar that I got for the late dog Abby. I bought it over twenty years ago.

That is most of the pet pics and stories that I have. I do have more pics. Also, there is some dissertation about my present dogs on my bus thread.

I am looking forward to see more input from pet owners here.

Re: OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

You started something here.
This is Molly, well actually Molly II, possibly the best stock dog I've ever owned and there have been a lot of them.

Kate, spent first 9 years riding in a truck

The rest of these are long gone.

Chip, undoubtedly the best, toughest, all around farm dog I ever had, there wasn't anything he couldn't move.
Sheep, cattle, hogs, deer, emu, rhea, llama, alpaca, geese ,ducks. He especially liked hogs, and breaking wild cattle.
I stopped trying to run him in field trials, absolutely no finesse.

Nell, my top dog for many years. This picture was taken in Connecticut at a training clinic demonstration I was holding.

Molly I not much of a worker, but mated to Mac, produced some of the best working Border Collies around.

Mac, my first Border Collie, he started it all, This is about the only picture I have of him, the night we brought him home.

I'm not sure there any pictures of Shep I & II,Reba,Star I,II or III, Jack 1 & 2,Gale,Gael,Spot 1 & II,Fly,Sis,Roy,Blackjack,or Blackie, just to name a few.
They would be on film if there are any. Might be an afternoon project after the bus is finished.

Dick, I was hoping that you would post some pics of those beautiful dogs. I am sure that they are(were) smarter than the ones I have had.

How many dogs do you have now?

Crazycal, Thanks for starting this thread.

Bansil, both of my cats looked like yours. My last cat could be a twin to Gizmo.

Accordion, thanks, I just have the two, Kate and Molly. I don't have any livestock anymore, and the only
time they get to work is when I visit friends. I'm sure this arrangement isn't to their liking. Working Border Collies
would rather work than eat, sleep, or make puppies

Re: OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

This is a pic of my family. Venus is on the left, she is about 8 months old, TC is my one-eyed black cat who is a year and a half old, Bob the Shih Tzu is going on four years old and thinks you should wait on him hand and foot without delay, and Sara Lee is the Border Collie who is 12 years old now. All of them love to travel in the bus and go camping, except TC and Bob take a little time to settle down when we start moving.

All of them are rescue animals. TC was abandoned by his mom in my garage, and got an eye infection before I found him, so he lost one of his eyes, but he is doing great. Venus was abandoned too, but saved her in time and she is fine now. Sara is a typical Border Collie who tries to herd everything. She gets really scared from loud noises, so we always try to travel someplace quiet on New Years and the 4th of July.

Re: OFFICIAL SKOOLIE PET THREAD

OK, This is fun, I found some more just lying around in the computer. Strange what I find in here.

Here friends is my first Border Collie,Pal that's me on the left, it seems to be a REALLY old picture. Note it belongs here because there is a school bus in the picture.
I've got a picture of my very first dog Blackie somewhere.

This is Aurthur King of the Dell, He was a Kuvasz, did a VERY good job of protecting the sheep from coyotes.

This is Hannah My kids first dog, my daughter showed her in obedience.

This is Tyler my first obedience compitition dog.

I really have to get busy doing something productive now.

Dick

Here's our little buddy, Ted... He's a Min Pin, but don't tell him that...

He knows what the McDonalds sign looks like when driving by one... Every once in awhile I'll stop in and get him a McNugget...

Here he's waiting for them to cool down...

He really hates taking a bath...

Our oldest moved out last year and she left behind this blanket... Ted quickly claimed it for himself...
