Owner of this forum.

So who is the owner of this forum? I keep seeing posts on some of the Facebook pages saying it is a guy named Steve who also has a Facebook page called "skoolie". I know that can't be correct. I joined that Facebook page once and only lasted about a day. He was a total asshat.

Roxy tried joining the skoolie FB group and I didn't like the people on there or the way they talked to her.

Not sure what steve or FB group you're talking about, but at one time a person by the name of steve did start this forum. He doesn't own it now as you can see here. http://www.skoolie.net/forums/f12/ch...-net-9715.html

Ok question asked and answered. If Steve Fontaine did start this forum there is one good thing he did. Selling it to Andy was definitely for the best.

It is a program funded by the united states government designed to harvest and store personal information on the population.
The front end was very cleverly designed to encourage users to share everything and more about their lives. The back end has state of the art data mining, social influence analysis, web usage tracking, location tracking and so much more.

It's really fun you should try it.

Camper nailed that one. Download the facebook app and read through the access it asks permission for. It's scary. Not to mention the misinformation that media is flooded with daily.

I worked, in IT, with local law enforcement. I was surprised at what a great tool Facebook was for investigations.

Stupid felons regularly posted incriminating information for all to see.

Seriously, the amount of information that Google collects would scare George Orwell.

I am of the opinion that if I was worried about the govt or anyone else knowing what I was doing I would go dark. If they really want to see what websites I look at, who I am friends with, or what I am buying.. let them. It would be a boring day for them. Lol
I am not saying I condone it, just that I have nothing to hide.

The problem with this is who is "they" ? They is anyone who buys or hacks your info that is being collected and stored on insecure servers.

A new trend in security treats is the emergence of extortionists getting this info. They sit in prisons and gang houses and all day and make extortion calls with this info
*-They know where your kids are. -They know where you wife is. -They know how much you have in your bank acct *

Happens all day long in Mexico and is starting to happen in the US. It is not just the "gov" harvesting this info. It is anyone who thinks they can profit from it.

How will I differentiate these "new extortionists" from the regular extortionists I deal with; Comcast, T-Mobile, County Assessor, Hospital...
