The 1753 might designate school bus. The S1700 was available with many different engines from the 345 to the DT466. Do you have any more information for us? Is it a gas engine?

what color is the engine? I don't know if that'll really help or not, but the DT series are blue motors.

I'm confused. Do you have it sitting where you can look at it?

you can't tell if it's a vee or not? dang, that thing must really be buried.

go back to you tail pipe and follow it. does it all go to one side? if so, it's an inline. if it goes to both sides, it's a vee or a really weird inline.

I only have a picture to go by, but it really doesn't show much as far as the color of it. [/url]

Can you see the intake tubing? If it goes in the top it's a vee...if it goes in the side it's an inline. I can't think of much more to look for.

Thanks for all the help you guys! I'm pretty sure it's a 6.9L V8. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Can't wait!! It's funny how almost everyone I tell about me getting a school bus and making it a 'skoolie' thinks I'm "off my rocker" But on this site, I feel accepted. I may be a little crazy, but at least I'm not the only one! Thanks again

Elsewhere, when you say you're making a school bus into an RV, you are thought to be an idiot. Here, there's no thought about it. We know you're an idiot!!!

Who's the idiot?

If that was a regular RV, that Hummer would have blasted right through.

I'd say the people buying those stcik and staple rv's are the idiots. And to support it more than a generic hummer photo in the back of a bluebird.
Look at the monster truck photo gallerys and just look at how the stick and staples just fall apart and the school buses hold all the weight with no realy problem. Even when they pre cut the school bus it still holds up well. . http://www.ushra.com
