At first I thought your question was some sort of poem about acrylic caulk.
The answer is: it depends
If it's in a place where it won't affect you (won't cause a leak or a draft, or won't see it) then just leave the hole. If it's unsightly, you could weld or body fill it.
If it's in galvanized material, welding should be followed up with a covering of cold galvanizing spray on both sides.
Vehicle seam sealer works great as well.
