Reverse light and beeper.
Can anyone help me. I have a 1997 Thomas International 3800. Can anyone tell me where the reverse switch is? My back up light and beeper gets stuck on. Sometimes.

Re: Reverse light and beeper.
If it is in the transmission, I think I'll try to find the wire that controls it and rig a switch on the transmission cable under the dashboard. Otherwise it won't pass inspection. Or I could just put a manual switch on the dashboard.

It might be part of the shifter assembly.

Problem solved. I found the wire for the back-up light in the switch console. I converted my unused mirror heater switch to control it. It's a manual thing but it works just fine.

Re: Reverse light and beeper.
I just love those reverse beepers... especially when I get some idiot who can't get their big RV backed into the spot next to us. 2 hours of backing up, pulling forward, backing up, get out. Walk around. sit for a few minutes then start all over again... and all for one night. I think reverse beepers should be outlawed! Rant over... for now.

Re: Reverse light and beeper.
i find them beepers annoying. Company bus i drive I crawled under and yanked the wire out of the thing and it has not worked since.
Now if you think those are bad try driving a vehicle with the back up alarm on the inside were it beeps when you get closer to something. Add a little snow rain and the thing never shuts up while you back up. Fortunatly the bus I use doesn't have that system in it, if it did it would be unhooked. Another driver has it unhooked.

Re: Reverse light and beeper.
The reverse alarm is there for SAFETY...so people do not walk behind the bus and get run over. Not even mentioning the fact it might fail an inspection, the liability of removing it is extremely high. Alarm connected & working on my Genesis, I added one to my F-350.

I would wager it would take you less than 2 hours to back into a parking space!
I hate the noise. When the last business located in the warehouse next to our garage was running forklifts with beepers, you would hear the beeping 8 hours a day. The safety aspect is lost, as if you worked there (or on a construction site) you begin to tune the noise out, kind of like hearing the refrigerator running.
I would probably see myself having one with a disconnect switch, so I could back normally in peace and quiet, but enable it if I needed to back up amid a swarm of brain-dead idiots walking around texting, etc.

You are looking at a short lived thread from 10 years ago so you probably aren't going to get much help from them.

We disconnected ours and now the bus won't go in gear. I can't figure out if this is the problem or if it's something different all together.

Where/what did you disconnect? What bus do you have? Fill out your profile and filks may be able to help. Seems like that should not inhibit your bus from shifting.
