Rivets?
Hey Everyone,
I just got a voicemail asking questions about rivets. The message was unintelligible. All i understood was "skoolie" and "rivets".
I am not sure who messaged me but I will say that questions are better answered in the open forums rather than PM or voicemail.

I think I can solve the mystery.
Its a Belgian man. His name is Wim. I've been busy but he called me frantically about rivets in the middle of my storm prepping.
He's really nice but stressed about grip range, rivet length, etc.

I posted a link and contact info for the folks I bought my rivets from in my build thread.
The gent I spoke with was very knowledgeable and even knew a fair bit about buses. He helped me with selection of proper size, style and grip range.

International bus 2002
I’m drilling them out with a number 8 or 10 bit.
Not sure I get them from work. But usually what size should I go with or what’s usually manufacture sized rivets.
I want to to order some solid pop rivets ... or the self closing ones and also some buck rivets .
I need a bit too.
So say I’m going through 2 pieces of 14 gauge hat channel.
And old 16 garage sheet and my new 16 gauge sheet?
What grip range shall I need ?
If I bored a hole out too big should I go with 5/16 instead of 1/4 ... I think that’s standered ?
I need to make a order here pretty soon

Instead of having 2 different size rivets, use a backer washer or the head off another rivet on the back side,

Re 'POP' Rivets on a skoolie
Specified 2 thicknesses of each Gauge 14 and 15 sheet steel.
14 gauge = 0.078125" x 2 = 0.15625"
16 gauge = 0.0625" x 2 = 0.125"
Total thickness = 0.28125" = 9/32"
Grip Range needs to include the above figure for example, a 3/16 rivet with a 1/4 to 3/8 and have a rivet length around 1/2". The drill size will be a number 11 and will probably specified by the rivet supplier
Material of the rivet and it's mandrel should both be steel (not stainless steel) and if exposed to weather should have a closed end. Different manufacturers have different names for closed end rivets. Two names I've come across are 'domed' and 'protruding head'. Buyer beware.
