That is a nearly new IC bus.

I have been to the factory and I have seen how those buses are built.

For that bus to have smashed the roof that flat it had to have been going pretty fast and rolled several times or dropped a long way.

It should not have smashed that flat with just one roll.

Graphic, but I'm not the least bit worried about raising a roof.My brief "career" working in greenhouses taught me that I NEED more than six feet of headroom to live for any amount of time.

I ALMOST rented once. It was a crappy double wide trailer but in a great location on a great lot. I had perfect credit but something glitched and the guy said my credit check came back as a no-go and that we'd have to postpone our agreed move-in date until we'd gotten it sorted out. I was supposed to move in the following weekend.
Well one night a week later the place was blown away in a HUGE freak tornado in Lady Lake, FL. The neighbors across the street had a skoolie and it was nowhere to be found. Probably blew it to pieces and miles away. But- the brick house down the road a mile was also blown away. Every single brick was gone. The only thing remaining was the toilet somehow.

My point is- nothing is perfect, life is short and unpredictable and you're never truly "safe" anywhere.
But I'm probably preaching to the choir here.
As you said- build it strong, all you can do is your best to prepare for the worst. Hopefully luck takes care of the rest, as it has for me thus far.

that section of 65 is 70 MPH speed limit... thats a new Bus so it eassilty couldve been ruinning that speed when it rolled.. doesnt look like a multiple rollover from the debris field and lack of side damage.. too many windows on the right side intact to have rolled over more than a flop... still a scary ride for those on it im sure.. other than the top, the body held together pretty good.. the driver side is a little more smashed than id expect.. risk of pinning between the roof and seats on that side as the windows were halved...

In looking at the new International Dog nose buses they have extended
the tops of the windows to within 6 or so inches of the top of the roof
which looks like the window frames are the only thing holding the roof on.
In addition the windows frames have been narrowed and angled in at the
top which gives it a slight pitched effect which would give it a strength for a
direct sideways rollover but with a forward shear to the rollover it would
be relative easy to collapse. Just my observations. Lots of glass means less
structural integrity.

There should be no difference in structural integrity with the larger windows.

The roof bows are still one piece going from the floor on one side and going up and over to the other side.

All of the longitudinal ribs are threaded onto the roof bows and then welded once they are in place after the roof bows are welded to the floor structure. Since there is a rib just above the window and just below the window I don't see how increasing the amount of glass would make a significant different in structural integrity.

almost every time I drive up I-95 from south beach north throgh florida I see at least one RV crash of some sort... somrtimes worse than others but its a farily common thing for one of these or a 5th wheel to fly apart in pieces it seems..
ive seen some pretty serius school bus accidents but I can say ive never seen a school bus completely in pieces...
