Roof Vent Purpose

Anyone Know What This Is For? Removed It And Now There’s A Hole 😐. I Thought It Was Cosmetic

I can only guess it's some sort of passive vent. Mine was the same. It opens into the one ceiling cavtity, so not really venting unless the ceiling panels are perforated. I removed mine and replaced it with the 14" cutout from the Lexan for the Maxxair fan. It'll be a small skylight in the living room. I notice your is off center. Mine was more or less centered, but the vent was screwed down way crooked.

I wonder if it's a sort of bare-minimum airflow vent so that if all the windows and the cab vents are closed the drivers can't somehow asphyxiate themselves and the children?
