Skoolies and the RPG hobby

I plan to take our skoolie to conventions like gen con and other roleplaying game conventions but I'm wondering firstly if many people choosing the nomadic life share my hobby and if so is there a skoolie rpg Meetup?

Not offhand, but we mostly talk about buses on here. Lifestyle is sorta come as you are and we won't ask any questions kinda thing, imo.
If I come across any furries or crinkles I'll send em your way though! lol

Some jerk stole my D&D starter set when I was playing some arcade games in 1988. Never did replace it.

I rarely see vehicles at CONs, most CONs seem to be held in convention centers or hotel ballrooms etc.. ive set up networks in hotels for LANparties. and done some cool stuff with Asterisk servers so players could talk to each other on headsets and such. but never noticed much about vehicles people showed up in..

It'd be a neat idea for running a game night in a campground or something, at least. But yeah, I doubt you'd get too close to an actual convention with a full size skoolie to try and park, without paying a small fortune.

Schoolie RPG gathering would be amazing. I have a few friends around the country that I always game with when I’m around but besides that it’s too hard to figure out traveling and gaming with a group. I play MTG because it’s less long term dedication needed but I dream of someday having my buss set up and my solar system running so I can get on role 20 or some other similar platform and play regularly anywhere I am. Let me know if you here of a Skoolie rpg gathering.

I'm hoping to be able to run online games from the bus but I'd like to try to organize an RPG and board game nomad meetup

This community is full of gearheads, outdoorsmen, retirees, young parents, single nomads, etc. Surely, there are some folks who also play video games.

For me, wearing a uniform & playing war games with military equiptment has ruined the video game version. We don't even own a TV. Too, much farm work. I mostly discuss my newest hobby, converting a bus & camping in a skoolie.

How's everything coming along with the Gillig, James? Have you been traveling?

I started playing table top RPGs in 1979, and have been at it ever since. Now I am introducing my grandkids to it. Never been to a convention, so I'm not much help there. Also don't think I have ever played in the bus, at least not that I can remember. We don't live in our bus, just camp in it. You could easily design your bus to be gaming friendly. That's the cool thing about bus conversions, your imagination (and pocketbook) are the only limitations.

I remember playing Leisure Suit Larry and the Land of the Lounge Lizards...then Wolfenstein on 4 1/2-inch discs. Does that count? Yes...I'm going to be 60 this summer.

I think he's talking about table top RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons.
