Re: Snow n slide

EEEEK!

My family first started going up to NC over the holiday break for Christmas (back in 1966). It was the first time my sister & I had ever seen snow anywhere other than TV & movies. I was thoroughly disgusted with the real thing. Real snow is nothing like on TV & movie snow. For starters it's freakin cold. Next you get soaking wet as the crap melts. Anyway, in Franklin, Main Street was mostly a one way street that made a big loop on a hillside. The "upper" level was East Main street and the lower level was West Main. The hill that East Main climbed was called "Town Hill" and was prone to icing up. We would sit at a business near the bottom of the hill and watch the vehicles slowly slide down Town Hill.... backwards. Like watching something that would be on a comedy show. Of course in the summer, at least once during every summer, some flatlander would forget how to park on a steep hill and their car would roll down the hill. Usually the vehicle was stopped by a telephone pole or another vehicle.
