Story about an HOA and a Bluebird

This happened back in the early 2000's, thought you all might enjoy this.

My niece lives south of Ft. Worth. Her neighbor is a scout leader and bought a Bluebird to haul the scouts to summer camp. Nice guy, always offering help to her. So the HOA in he neighborhood was apparently one of those typical retired, walking around with a copy of the rules, nothing better to do HOA Nazi.

He approached her neighbor about his bus and said he had 30 days to move it or be fined $50 a day.

She noticed when the 30 days came due, he hadn't moved the boat. She saw him is his front yard and asked, "What are you going to do about your bus" For the record, she had no problem with the bus, she thought he was a great guy for buying it out of his own pocket for the scouts.

He says "what bus, you mean my boat". This REALLY confused my niece who replies "Boat?".

Long story short, her neighbor can also read the rules, he noticed a very vague description of "Water Pleasure craft". SO, he took a 3/4" piece of plywood, screwed it to the back of the bus and put a 50 HP merc outboard on the back. When the HOA Nazi approached him, he said "That's not a boat, it would sink". The neighbor replied, "Prove it".

Nazi was voted out at the next meeting.....lol.

Using Nazi to describe anything or anyone outside of Hitler's Germany is pretty offensive. This is not a PC comment either. Comparing an over-zealous HOA officer to what was done during Hitler's time is way off the mark.

Wow and here I thought it was a fairly common descriptor of anyone that uses that type tactic to try and force everyone else to their view point .

Not everything thee Nazi's did revolved around the holocaust They also used intimidation and threats to keep everyone else in line .

“ First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

written in 1946, list the communists, incurable patients, Jews or Jehovah's Witnesses, and civilians in countries occupied by Nazi Germany. In all versions, the impact is carefully built up, by going from the "smallest, most distant" group to the largest, Jewish, group, .... and then finally to himself as a by then outspoken critic of Nazism. Niemöller made the cardinal "who cares about them," clear in his speech

This is the reason you have to stand up to HOA officers the police when they are wrong and politicians .

The Nazi's taught current politicians many lessons
The chief one is he who controls education and the media control the population . Faux news channel is a prime one . Another is that by changing things in small steps most never realize they have lost freedoms .

I'm not so sure they started with the socialists since that is part of their name. National Socialist German Workers' Party. Maybe when they ran out people to brutalize.

Your being offended is your problem and your the one who needs to deal with
it. I found the post very enlightening and proof that there is more than one correct
answer for every problem we encounter. That's the reason for the Skoolie group, to
create multiple answers for the problems we make or encounter in our builds. We
don't strive for political correctness or to make everyone happy. Your rights stop at
the end of your nose and past that you begin to infringe on other peoples right so
try to control that which your capable of (yourself) and let others control what they
are capable of (themselves). Have a nice day!

About comparison to Nazi's on discussion boards: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law

Main thesys : "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1"

Corrolaries:
" there is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever debate was in progress.[8] This principle is itself frequently referred to as Godwin's law."

I'll see myself out now... ;)

Easy ladies and gentlemen? I also had a neighborhood NAZI in an HOA? That caused the county land use to visit while I was at work and my wife and two young boys in 2010 to show my complete destruction of the interior, seats in the yard, transmission dropped to replace the rear seal, and i had all the new walls and framing shoved in the door and wife was given 1-week to have it to have it inspected, registered, tags and painted and I was already working 60- hours a week! My wife called me on my way home and told me and I went crazy for a minute? I am also in scouting and have used the bus for scouting during construction (will always be at some form of add/delete) even if it is in my head. The paint job to cover the yellow was done by scouts and I had many of gallon colors left over so they got a free for all including many different colors and hand prints while I put the tranny back and after they left ( the NAZI mans name is Doug E ) so after the boys left I painted a great big FUDGE on his side of the bus and took of of work the next day to get a full DOT inspection. Nothing I couldn't handle the next week the inspector came out and liked the interior after it was cleaned off and could see what we had done and was doing and loved the high heat silver I had painted the rims. After that I put all the framing and boards back on the bus and MR. DOUG got to look at FUDGE for at 3-4 years until I primered anyway. I still have to inspect and TAG,insure every year even though I am not ready? I can't spend the time I need to rebuild my rear end myself because I know if it is more than a day which is all I have then mr. Fudge will have the county on me again.
Neighborhood NAZI is a true fit for FUDGE and if you want to know what fudge means PM me.

Being one whose own Oma bailed out of Europe just in time to avoid being rounded up and sent to God only knows where. I have no issues with somebody using the term Nazi to describe a mindless drone that simply follows the letter of the law with no concern of right or wrong...

What is this PC thing you speak of??
But seriously, "what was done during Hitler's time" is happening here, now.
The whole concept of politically correct language being a prime example thereof.

and you wonder why Trump is so popular. I for one, not saying I will or I won't vote for him appreciate his unpolitically correctness. I was raised with all kinds of words & description of people being tossed about. I've heard my share of jokes of the Rabi the Jew & the Priest in a plane. I have thru the years curbed my way of talking due to trying to be politically correct for my childrens sake. I believe in equal rights & equal ways for everyone. I never thought different of people because of the color of their skin or the sex of the person/people they sleep with or who they pray to. But sometimes my grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors & parent words slip out of my mouth. I am tired of being talked about because of it.

You hit the nail on the head right there, and don't stop at fox news either. I'd throw all media under that bus. It seems that fair, unbiased reporting is long gone and that every single news organization has some sort of agenda they're trying to ram down your throat. I get so frustrated by it sometimes that I can't even see straight. What's worse is that everybody seems to have the strongest opinion but none have the first hint of a desire to actually educate themselves. They hear what they want and then make up facts to support it. I can't stand having a debate with most people anymore because of their ignorance, AND I CAN'T STAND IGNORANCE. What's worse is when they become chauvinistic, disrespectful, and sometimes aggressive. I'm thankful for the little bit of patience that I have, because if it wasn't for it, I know I'd be in jail.

Anyways, now that the thread is completely derailed and a smoldering ruin, Thanks for the story Big Paul and Jolly Roger.
