The bus to aspire to...

If you were to take a skoolie and fill it with all the imenities and comforts of the dream rv what would you model it after?

Is the top of the line most beautiful and most comfortably decked out RV the Prevost LeMirage? Or is it something else...

I don't like the pro-conversions. With all the mirrors and tiny lights, they tend to look like a tacky version of Las Vegas.

I like the looks of the old yachts like from the early 20's. All that beautiful rich woodwork! The craftmanship simply isn't there in the million dollar conversions. At least that's the way it seems to me. But then I really like the looks of wood. I'm trying to talk my husband into putting hickory flooring on the floor of our Eagle conversion. For the skoolie that I will probably do... depends on what I can get cheap. Southeastern Salvage in Chattanooga has low-priced wood flooring (that where I found the hickory). They also carry a pile of the solid oak flooring (really cheap for solid wood flooring) that we used to pick up from the factory for $5 a pickup/trailer load. We used it for firewood but we knew folks who would sort thu looking for the best pieces and use it to floor their homes. I'm hoping David can talk the folks who mill the stuff to sell us a load (he works in construction & is back dealing with them).

Yesterday I pulled into a Wal Mart in my skoolie and parked beside one of these mega $$$ motorhomes. I got a weird look from its owner, so I smiled and said " nice camper " which got me a raised eyebrow look, so I told him that when I'm too old to build my own the way I like it I may buy one like his too ! I have 4 kids, and don't want to worry about taking shoes off at the door, we use our bus to have fun, leave the hassles at home and escape for a while. Its holidays for everyone in the family, not another chore to look after.
