We are thinking about a new car to add to our aging fleet. We'd keep the Town Car and the Minivan (both with well over 100K) and add a small manual transmission car to up our CAFE and to serve as a toad.

Right now we are looking at the Toyota Yaris, but don't know how it might behave as a toad.

Any other recommendations?

I'm not sure how the newer toyotas do as toads. I know just about anything you need to know about 1979-1995 Toyota trucks and 4Runners though if you ever have a question .

I *believe* all saturns come from the factory with recommendations and approvals for towing on all four. I'm not so sure about the newer toyotas. I know you aren't fulltimers, but that's always something to consider with a purchase of this magnitude. Of course if you're going to buy a car I'm sure you could finance in a used car dolly as part of the price as well.

i'd definatly check with the dealer to make sure,,,but nearly any vehicle with a manual transmission or a transfer case can be towed without any damage to driveline components. There are a few vehicles with autos that can be towed, but they are few and far between.
