Towing a car with a bus?
Can you tow a vehicle behind a bus? We have 4 kids and a dog so it would need to be a mini van but we wouldn't need it to be anything special. Just transport when the bus is parked. Is this possible? Hoping to find a Diesel engine (not sure if that's relevant to tow ability)

Yes you sure can no worries. Just make sure your car can flat tow or you will need a dolly. I will be flat towing my jeep wrangler.

The short answer is yes but remember also that if your bus was underpowered before towing it's not going to improve with the additional weight. A diesel engine is definitely going to give you more power because it is in their nature. Minivans are not that heavy these days and are usually front wheel drive so you should be able to Dolly it with no problem

I towed my car behind my second bus on a tow dolly on the trip home when Ipicked it up, bolted a hitch to the rear bumper of the bus in the school lot (no lights, school bus wiring is not standard truck set up which I have plugs for) and drove home, got 8 mpg with the TE444/at545 combo doing 64 mph and only having it downshift to third on longer hills.
now I need to get a real hitch receiver installed on it and a trailer plug

Yes and that is why I had to leave the bus in Amarillo and come back for it. The Excursion comes in at about 9000# not including the trailer. It was too much for the bus. It probably would have been ok if I had a lookup trans.

The Ex has a 444 and the bus has a DT408. But I don't think you can compare the two.

^That's gotta be a custom trailer. I've never seen a single axle car hauler sold. That suspension looks pretty compressed on the trailer.
Details? Converted boat trailer?

It was my winter project. It's a torsion axle. The fenders are as close to the tires I could get them, to keep height down for drive over fenders.
Here's link to my build thread.

Dt466e with Allison 3060 international 3000re
I would like to flat (4 down) tow a vehicle behind my international 3000RE with an Allison 3060 transmission and a newly rebuilt dt466e.
The gvwr is 35000
Full water gas weight is 28,500
I cannot find the gcwr, but I can go 65 on the highway flat, and very slow 20mph up steep inclines.
Does anybody have info on whether I can flat tow with my specs?

I do with my bus. Jeep liberty, Jeep CJ-5 and Toyota FJ-62. Just not all at the same time.
