trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

As the title says, awhile back I seen a picture of a bus that had been heavily modified, it had a rounded cap over the windshield and I believe it was a freightliner hood that had been fitted onto it or something like that. For some reason I was thinking oscar mayer promotion but........not sure. anybody got this pic or a link?

Re: trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

not sure what I am going to do just yet, got all winter to plan it out and gather parts. I would like to do something to get rid of the large flat school bus look above the windshield area. I love the overall look of the first bus, I have already planned on doing the skirts, removing rub rails, and the mid door like that but they way it comes down in the front is trick.
Problem with the 1st look is once I raise the roof, probably around 12-16", the taper would be way to long to look as good as it does on that bus. So if I go the that route I will have at least a few inches left of flat area but it would be no more that a 1/3 of what it is now, somewhere in between the 1st and 3rd pics.
I like the dome in the 2nd pic but my nose is too square to look right with that rounded dome I believe.

...Get one of those old Air Plane lights, the ones that fold out. Use it for a porch light when parked and an "On-Coming" blinder when driving. I figure, mount it dead center and get that "Milicent" Cyclops thing going...

Re: trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

The bus in the third picture belongs to the owner of a restaurant I eat at, I believe that image is one I took a couple years ago. They have help guide me through the registration/title process earlier this year. I can get more pictures of it, anything specific you want me to get?

I can tell you this much, they raised the roof 20" and installed the large windows. The bus is relatively short but nicely done. The also raised the floor a little (2-3") as well. Not as pretty inside as mine, but they did a great job of raising the roof. They did that at the place I send mine for State Inspection...

Re: trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

I'll stop there for lunch tomorrow since that little Lunch shop is only 2 buildings up from my place of work. I'll snap a few pictures off for ya... I actually have more images of that bus posted somewhere, but I can't seem to find them. I doubt Francine will be able to let me in, not at lunch time anyway as that is when she is most busy with a restaurant full of customers.

Re: trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

I did stop in for lunch there today, but didn't shoot any pictures. She told me to come by on Monday and she'll let me take a few pictures of the inside too...

I found another picture I had online for that roof, I did stop in today and take some others but haven't had a chance to down load them from the camera and upload them to the web....

Re: trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

I bet they kept some of the orriginal roof intact, and angled it up to match the new roof. In doing it probably made the front cap lean out a little.

Re: trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

The last post above is correct, they did keep the forward section of the roof intact... and that slant was there, it's an older Thomas conventional, you'll see once you look at the inside picture. I believe it was a straight roof bus, and they raised everything aft of that first section. He had a shop to work in and used a hoist on the rear and jacks on the front.

NOTE: That would be owner Dave in the bottom right picture. I don't know if they have named this beast anything or not, but since their restaurant is called Razorback's, I'll call it the Razorback until they come along and tell me otherwise. I also told them about this website, so perhaps they will check in eventually and answer your questions.

Re: trying to find a picture of a specific bus....

He's 2 doors down from me and my city is listed at the bottom of the sig line...

If you are ever in Chesapeake Va just visit Razorback's Pub & Restaurant on Holland Blvd, buy dinner and the woman behind the counter (Francine) is the other half of the equation... Mention the bus and maybe she'll take you for a tour of it...
