Using a bus mechanic to check bus

I'm looking at a bus 8 hours away. Before driving down myself, I thought I would consider reaching out to a local bus mechanic to see if I could pay them to check the bus for me.

Has anyone ever done this? Good or bad idea?

TIA!

I have tried that twice and nobody wanted to play.

Other posters here have had better success.

Try it and see.

And....?? where is this bus??

It really wouldn't take long to eval a bus.

#1 question I ask a seller when i'm thinking of buying a vehicle is.... WHY is this for sale? If it is just to make some money that is the worst. Real life sales people will either know nothing about a particular used vehicle on the lot or most likely outright lie to get it sold. And I am always suspicious if when I arrive the engine is already warmed. That is a very bad sign for a diesel buyer. A easy COLD START is a very good indicator of engine health.
Always arrive 30 min before you say you will to avoid the warmed engine situation . get ready to lay on the ground under a vehicle.

Quick update: a friend of mine knows the Red Cross mechanic and he checked it out for me. Looks good.
