Veteran's Day Thoughts...
Don't forget to thank a Vet for what freedoms you have left. The following has appeared before but is worth repeating...
On this Veterans Day, please remember:
It is the veteran, not the preacher, who has given you freedom of religion.
It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given you freedom of the press.
It is the veteran, not the poet, who has given you freedom of speech.
It is the veteran, not the liberal protesters, who has given you freedom to assemble.
It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who has given you the right to a fair trial.
It is the veteran, not the politician, who has given you the right to vote.
It is the veteran who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag.
Let us honor them all on this day.
In addition to a "Thank You", I always include "Welcome home" to any Vet I meet. Many never heard those words and they mean more than most can imagine. It was twenty years, almost to the day before I heard them. At the time, anyone coming back from Viet Nam was welcomed less than warmly. And the impact of those words, even two decades after the fact, had a profound effect. I thought I had put it all behind me, but hearing that simple phrase expressed sincerely for the first time brought both unexpected closure and tears. The reaction was startling and totally unexpected, but the words were deeply appreciated.

Re: Veteran's Day Thoughts...
As I read this I have goose bumps..thankyou Tango....for reminding me of the day I heard..."welcome home" that made up for so many of the "other words".
Thank you for your service...mine was later than yours and I always thank a Vet esp. Frm from "Nam"
God bless all of our soldiers, from past to present....
THANK YOU!!!!

Re: Veteran's Day Thoughts...
I put together the slide show for my local legion branch for remembrance day. Sadly each year there is more and more pictures to add and less and less veterans in the seats...
