VIN locations?

In a couple of days I'll be taking Millicent to the Highway Patrol station to have the
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) verified. (This has nothing to do with the
conversion; it's because I bought her out of state.)

They want to see the VIN in two places. One is easy -- on the front of the dashboard,
visible thru the windshield. The next is on a label inside above the driver's side
window. But the latter panel is easily removed, and the dash is probably removable
also, so I want to be prepared to show them a VIN that is more permanent
-- on the frame or the body itself. But where? It's a 1992 Blue Bird TC2000 FC.

I have the incomplete chassis VIN stamped on my firewall. I'm not sure if that will do you any good, but it's worth a shot.

Isn't that going to be a cold ride or are you planning on having it totally skinned by then?

We get night frost once in a while. Today it's raining and around 45 F.

Mind you, I'm in Northern California, and up in the hills at 1400 ft.
Some snow fell at higher elevations last Friday. I've seen an inch
of snow on the ground here in Clearlake twice in four years.
Lasted almost until Noon.

Oh, I grew up in Norway. The country.

Sometimes I forget that people live where seeing the sun actually means it's warm. Here it just means it's going to be a cold night because there isn't any insulating cloud cover. Staring out the window at the 14+ inches of fresh snow that has fallen in the last 36 hours can make a guy a little cynical.

One of these days I may tell you about the cold weather I have driven trucks in
over the years. Like in 1983 when the steering gear froze and I couldn't steer.
Or using my trouser belt as a filter wrench to swap fuel filters on the side of the
road in North Dakota -- running on one filter while the other was thawing out,
then swapping again....

I should have kept quiet yesterday about the generally benign climate here.
I just saw snow flakes mixed with the rain.
