"We are 100% of the way there"BASE BUS PRICE has been met!

I just got back from the scrapyard 12.50 a hundred for shredder steel!
I am now 1/3 of the way to basic purchase price of our bus

Lisa said I had to do two things
1)get rid of all yard ornaments before getting a bus(makes since the bus needs a place to sleep
2)only extra $ from getting rid of crap(old projects) to be used

So I have been parting some stuff out,and having money in paypal has let me start getting things for the bus thatcould be $ up front,I have some. Solar panels, controllers, wiring some switches, invertors that type of stuff in my "bus electrical area"

So...only 4 more ornaments to dispose of...

I'm just happy seeing this out....

Sorry for wasting cyberspace.....I'm just happy

3 cylinder geo engines are special. They are good for small aircraft engines, and getting much harder to find.

Re: just want to say"We are 80% of the way there"

I think i have 6 cars, 1 large truck, 1 van and around 20,000 lbs of misc engines, metal , radiators, etc to scrap in the next two months. And, of course, lots of RV parts. I should also scrap 2 aluminum truck boxes...

Re: just want to say"We are 80% of the way there"

I can't believe how much crap I've accumilated in 12years here....I took another 1900lbs today.
And am sawing some small trees down to get the blazer out,my wife is impresed
Last night she said "you really want a bus I can tell"
I said"I just wish you were more on board"
"I am when it gets here I will be excited"
"Cool"
She even said if I find one before I finish cleaning,I can get it,just can't work on it,she knows I've missed 3 so far.

Problem is that statement is what got me to this point

I get a new project and start to work on it....nothing else gets done

Re: just want to say"We are 80% of the way there"

I have to keep posting so I don't go insane and it keeps me motivated...this gives me relief for all the hard work...scrapping by yourself w/o heavy equipment sucks

Jack crap up and drive under it

2200 pounds more!

I think I'll be near 20K pounds to buy a 16K bus

gotta hurry...yellow jackets and hornets are starting to claim homes again

Re: just want to say"We are 80% of the way there"

If you put one of those harbor freight hoists on the side of your pickup box, and not weld a brace to the frame under the box, you can bend the side of the pickup box and the tailgate won't shut... I did that on my ford... but i dont charge extra for stupid.

Bansil.. you are mean cruel and vicious... I got a glimpse of "back home" and now I'm homesick and all weepy eyed again. I do miss the Southern Appalachians.

Re: just want to say"We are 80% of the way there"

We were in Elizabethton (TN) from about Sept 2007 thru March 2008 and got a bit of snow. We were told the old "it doesn't snow here that much" deal there too. Everyone seems to tell us that. I think we need to move someplace where it NEVER snows! I don't like snow. But I do miss the mountains... the mist and the month(s) long light drizzle/mist. After a while "dry" gets to you. At least in Roswell, we have morning dew. Goes really well with the dust storms!

Re: just want to say"We are 80% of the way there"

one more gone on friday

another load ready saturday, to be delivered on next friday

and yes it is a little wide

We did a "route recon" last night and adjusted the load(with a winch) so it clears the pole and mailbox on the scale at the yard
The scrap yard is 1-1/2 miles away, our plan is to leave at o-dark 30 , when my wife goes to work, she will follow me...wish the Neighbors mail boxes good luck...I will be the first in line when they open 2 hours later

The way it's going, the bus is funded and we should have basic building supplies and applainces covered by the time the property is clean
