Had an interesting conversation with the UPS driver today, after I saw his Propane Powered step van...
His depot is 45 miles north of where we met.
His step van gets 5.8 mpg, his fuel range is 200 miles.
The ONLY place he can refuel is 15 miles south of where we actually were, or another place 38 miles west of us.
He cannot cross state lines to go into a larger city that refuels propane because of territorial boundaries. (Arkansas is 20 miles to our east)
And he cannot refuel at a large RV dealership in our town, because they don't accept his fuel card.
Why would a incredibly large company put such strict boundaries on a delivery unit?
Round trip just to our town (city to city) is 1/2 his fuel consumption... so, he runs his route with it constantly in the back of his mind to retain enough fuel to get home.
He said "they didn't think this one through and it was 8 months before they finally placed a propane refill station at the depot."
Weird!
