What Model is This?

I am trying to learn the different pushers. That appears to be an international logo on the front. It must be an Amtran. I see some for sale online with air bag suspension. And some with the 7.3 V8. How does it rate compared to the Thomas Saf-T-Liner and the Bluebird All American?

I found this discussion of the merits of different school buses on an industry website.

IMHO, the Internationals are a better quality bus than a BB or a Thomas.

thomas MVP RE's from the early 00's had a problem with fires.. the HDX's of later (04/05/06) are about as close to a coach as you can get in a school bus.. beautiful busses..

the BB TC's were their lower end FE busses.. All americans are built better and come in RE.. im not sure a TC ever came in RE..

Amtran / international RE's came in a couple flavors.. the DT-466E is favored over the T-444E for a heavy RE bus.. both are reliable engines..

TC2000 was available in an RE. Standard RE was still a 5.9+AT545 but you could opt for the 8.3+MT643. Most of them of course were the lower cost FE trim.
